Born in Chicago, Austin began his career just after high school. He plays acoustic guitar and harmonica and writes most of his own material. He is one of the few rising voices in alternative Christian music. Based on his first effort alone, he's made a contribution to linking authentic gospel messages with uncommercial light-rock music/folk styles.
