los abandoned began in 2001 as the brainchild of L.A. songwriting team Lady P (lead vocals, rhythm guitars, keyboards and ukulele) and Don Verde (lead guitars, backing vocals, programming) who began collaborating after the breakup of their respective bands. The two released a debut EP demotape, a cult classic, and added bassist Vira Lata and drummer Dulce so they could perform their music live.

los abandoned played incessantly and built a dedicated following that quickly caught the eye of the local media. They were featured in the Los Angeles Times, La Opinion, OC & LA Weekly, Al Borde, La Banda Elastica and the groundbreaking bilingual music and culture television program, LATV Live; the legendary Rodney Bingenheimer added a track to his KROQ playlist.

Over the next few years the band shared the stage with Cafe Tacuba, the Breeders, Garbage, Calexico, Julieta Venegas, Molotov and Aterciopelados and performed in Austin, TX at SXSW and in Mexico City at the VIVE LATINO festival to over 60,000 people. Most recently, they opened the Bridge School Benefit on a bill featuring Paul McCartney, Neil Young and the Red Hot Chili Peppers among others.

In 2004, they released self-titled EP, which features the single, “Van Nuys (es very nice)," setting the stage for their highly anticipated full length debut MIX TAPE out on Vapor/Sanctuary Records.
