Taylor won awards for Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Female Artist of the Year, Top Digital Artist, and Top Billboard 200 Artist, as well as Top Country Artist, Album, and Song.

However, the multi-genre artist managed to neatly steal the spotlight from his mystery drink with a single neatly barbed statement.

"Let's give it up for people lip-synching under pre-recorded music," the singer said wryly, before presenting the honor to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis for the hit tune "Thrift Shop."

"I just put it on and it felt really me," Cyrus said of the elaborate Balmain garment, which featured a unique combo of crochet peek-a-boo details and a striking checkerboard motif.

The music industry is crying on its collective pillow as "Undercover Angel" singer Alan O'Day died on Friday following a battle with cancer, according to his record label. He was 72.

The singer/songwriter wrote popular songs for the likes of the Righteous Brothers, Dusty Springfield, Three Dog Night, Paul Anka, and Helen Reddy before landing his own hit in 1977 with "Undercover Angel."
