  • Blake has the magic "Touch"Following "American Idol" Season 6 runner-up Blake Lewis's announcement this week--issued exclusively via Yahoo! Music--that he has signed to major label Republic Records, he has now premiered his new single, "Your Touch," in the most major way possible. The galvanizing electro-anthem is the new theme for Microsoft's Internet Explorer Touch, and Blake appears in the global ad campaign's 60-second commercial, released today.

The ad spot is practically as much a commercial for Blake as it is for Microsoft, and it is sure to relaunch Blake's career after a four-year hiatus between albums.

  • Kellie Pickler (Photo: Jason Kempin)Looks as if this season of Dancing With The Stars is going to be considerably countrified! It has been confirmed that that Kellie Picker and Wynonna Judd are officially part of the cast.

The new season's lineup was announced Tuesday morning on Good Morning America. Pickler will be paired with Derek Hough; Wynonna will partner with Tony Dovolani. Pickler's selection was extra remarkable as she’ll be the first American Idol alum to join the cast of this reality program. (Pickler was, of course, a contender in Season 5 of AI.)

In addition to the country gals, comedians Andy Dick and D. L. Hughley, boxer Victor Ortiz, Real Housewives star Lisa Vanderpump, actress Zendaya Coleman, actor Ingo Rademacher, Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman, ice skating legend Dorothy Hamill, and Baltimore Ravens' wide receiver Jacoby Jones have signed on for the new season.

  • I’m embarrassed to note that I forgot to watch the Oscars last night--so I missed seeing Adele, Shirley Bassey and maybe a few other people I cared about, not to mention what was apparently a tasteful tribute to “boobs,” which I deeply regret.

And while it’s true I didn’t see a single film that was up for any award whatsoever—between you and me, I usually go to the movies maybe twice every summer, in Massachusetts—I’m thrilled that music played a role in the night’s festivities!

But you know what? First and foremost, I’m a music guy! So I spent the night listening to a box set by Thee Midniters, watching The Walking Dead and Banshee and sleeping with my dog Sparky!

And I know I’m not alone!

Atoms For Peace: Amok (XL) While on paper a collaborative effort between Radiohead’s Thom Yorke, producer Nigel Godrich, the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea, drummer Joey Waronker and former Beatle Mauro Refosco might seem a bit of a yank, in practice it’s quite good! The grooves are nice, Yorke’s

  • David Bowie is back with another epic new mini-movie, directed by video genius Floria Sigismondi (Marilyn Manson, Sigur Ros, Ellie Goulding, Leonard Cohen, two landmark '90s Bowie vids). In a bit of inspired casting, the Thin White Duke’s new video co-stars thin white duchess Tilda Swinton as his dutiful wife—but really, she looks more like his long-lost twin.

For years, the uncanny resemblance between Bowie and the Oscar-winning actress has been noted by observers—so much so that there's an entire Tumblr site, TildaStardust.com, devoted to their separated-at-birth similarity. In 2003, fashion photographer Craig McDean actually orchestrated a shoot with Tilda during which she dressed up as Bowie, and last year, Hint Fashion Magazine even published a rather convincing compare-and-contrast blogpost titled "Visual Proof That David Bowie And Tilda Swinton Are The Same Person."

Well, the fact that Bowie and Swindon appear onscreen on the same time in "The Stars (Are Out Tonight)" obviously

  • Was Michael Bolton's power really in his hair, a la the biblical Samson? Or do time, love, and tenderness still trump mullet amputations?

Bolton in 1992 and 2010 [Photos: Ron Galella/WireImage; Frederick M. Brown/Getty Images]These are the questions we ponder as the top balladeer of the early '90s turns 60 on February 26. Back in his heyday, there were tens of thousands of hair-metal singers... but only one hair-adult-contemporary star, which made him the closest thing the pop world had to a Fabio doppelgänger. Hard as it is to believe, it's been 16 years since he underwent a severe scissoring. To put it in perspective, he's spent about two and a half times as long with short hair as he ever spent in the limelight as a long-tressed superstar.

But even with a newly published memoir, The Soul Of It All, that delves into his romances with such starlets as Ashley Judd, Teri Hatcher, and Nicolette Sheridan, all anyone interviewing him wants to know is: Does he regret the dated signature hairstyle, and/or the loss of it?

"It was really traumatic," he said last month, asked once

  • The rule for inclusion is simple: one (1) Top 40 Pop Hit. No Alternative hits, no Adult Contemporary charts, no Country, no Jazz, no R&B, no Anglo-Saxon Hardcore, no Canadian charts. No #67 hit single, which is essentially "Big In Japan." No hits with five other supergroups where you stood in the background and made faces for the camera.

I also don't care if you've had ten albums hit #1 on the Album Charts. That's a different level of success.

Most importantly? No second Top 40 hit that cancels out your One-Hit Wonder Status!

  • Kanye West performing in South Africa on Feb. 3 (Gallo Images).

Kanye West was a bit out of character Sunday night as he closed his set at the Hammersmith Apollo in London.

The outspoken hip-hop artist known for his tantrums and rants spent his last moments on stage uttering a piercing, ear-clutching scream as his final song “Touch The Sky” faded.

After repeating the lyrics “top of the world” multiple times, he first appeared to be elongating a note, similar to a singer’s vocal run. When he ran out of breath, he made subsequent attempts, each growing more erratic, angrier and disturbing.

  • Justin Timberlake, Framed

Long-time readers -- and we mean really long-time readers -- may remember that the very first guest artist featured here in Framed was Justin Timberlake. And Scarlett Johansson was in it, too!

Those were the days! Why, it seems just like yesterday...

    (Weird music signaling flashback.)

Six years ago... Dave DiMartino had invited us to his home, a Hollywood Xanadu tucked into the hills above a struggling city. We found him in his sitting room.

"How would you like to write a 'blog' for Yahoo! Music?" he said, drawing on his pipe.

"A web log, eh? Well, that depends." We sipped our shot of 64-year-old single malt scotch while Dave drank out of the bottle. "Could we refer to ourselves in the third person?

    "Absolutely! That's a given!"

"And would we get paid really well and in a very timely fashion?"

"Week in, week out," he lied, scowling at his pipe briefly, and tamping it down. He continued...

  • Madonna (Photo: Chris McKay)When it comes to social media, it turns out nobody is above the rules, not even pop-culture behemoth Madonna. The superstar, who recently joined photo-sharing platform Instagram, was scolded by the company over the weekend for apparently violating its community guidelines.

Madonna posted a screenshot Saturday of the warning she received, which begins “Dear Madonna,” and asks that she review their rules or risk deactivation of her account.

It’s not specified what rule she broke--but a likely culprit may be the “don’t share photos that aren’t yours” stipulation. The singer has two photos of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo on her account that she—obviously—did not take (Kahlo died four years before Madonna was born).
