Kevin Spacey has found something he likes less than being asked why he tripped over his dog at 4 a.m. in a London Park: having indie rock albums named after him. Cassettes Won't Listen (a.k.a. Los Angeles-via-Brooklyn musician Jason Drake) pressed up a few thousand copies of his June 21st album Kevinspacey according to the Wrap, but late last month Drake received a cease-and-desist letter from the actor's attorneys claiming his name is trademarked for both acting and music. Because he played Bobby Darin in Beyond the Sea? Because he once sang a John Lennon song at a benefit? Dude, this is not how Clint Eastwood reacted.

In a bit of genius, Cassettes Won't Listen is now calling the record Evinspacey. A brief bio on the band's official website explains, "Three years in the making, the title is a nod to his newly adopted hometown, his fascination with exploration, observations of broken hope within the city, and of course, those who sit on top."

Britney Spears has shot two videos for singles from her latest album, Femme Fatale. She is currently in rehearsals for a demanding 28-date arena tour. She spends time with her two young sons. But her own parents say she is not mentally capable to testify in court.

According to a stunning story in the Hollywood Reporter, Spears' ex-manager Sam Lutfi is still pursing a lawsuit against the star's mother, Lynne, for making what he claims are defamatory statements in her book, Through the Storm. Lynne Spears blamed Lutfi for a large part of her daughter's public mental breakdown, alleging he kept Spears drugged and isolated. Lutfi says it's not true, and wants Spears to give a deposition in the case. Since her parents say she can't do it, he wants Spears to undergo a psychiatric evaluation to prove she can.

We've known for a few months now that Van Halen, with David Lee Roth on the microphone, were back in the studio working on their first album together since 1984. What we didn't know was whether the Van Halen clan (Eddie, Alex, and Wolfgang) could stomach hanging around with the egomaniacal Roth enough to go on tour together. Now we know they're going to give it a go for at least five gigs: The website for Soundwave Revolution, a roving Australian festival, has all but confirmed that the semi-reunited VH will take the stage again for the first time since June 2008. (It can't be a fully reunited Van Halen without axed bassist Michael Anthony.)

Rumors of Van Halen going Down Under in 2011 first emerged in August 2010. Soundwave Revolution is a traveling festival that will bring dozens of bands to five Aussie cities from September 24th to October 3rd. Alice Cooper, Panic! at the Disco, and Hole are also on the bill, which conjures up incredible visions of Courtney Love and Roth kicking it

Thirty years ago today, Bob Marley lost his battle with cancer in Miami, ending the three-decade reign of perhaps the first global superstar. There are many ways to remember the reggae legend's life and work -- watching Jimmy Fallon's week of musical tributes, checking out vintage clips on YouTube, zoning out to Soul Revolution while smoking salvia -- but we recommend a brainy read: music critic Michaelangelo Matos' 2007 paper "A Matter of Trustafarians: Behind the Bob Marley Poster on the Dorm Room Wall."

Matos went beyond the obvious punch line (the Onion probably did it best) and actually conducted research -- asking college students with that ever-present Tuff Gong image puttied above their beds why they choose to gaze at the Jamaican icon day after day. He also questioned poster vendors about just how well the Marleys move, and is told, "Everybody buys Bob Marley. He's the sort of common denominator among different sorts of social groups."
