  • The last phase of Radiohead's long The King of Limbs release plan got off to an early start as fans in the U.K. began to receive copies of their deluxe "Newspaper" version of TKOL well before the announced May 9th shipping date. And, it's pretty much like those free copies of The Universal Sigh that circulated on the album's official release date, but bigger. If you want to be surprised by the contents, read no further. Otherwise, press on.

First and foremost, despite the prayers of Radiohead fans everywhere, the CD that comes with TKOL, unlike In Rainbows' bonus disc, is just TKOL and not unreleased material. There's no unheard music here, so let's get that out of the way. Take your "Supercollider"/"The Butcher" and be happy. You're still getting a lot for your $48 (shipping included!) though. The highlight is the two clear vinyl records housing the album's eight tracks that will look very nice on turntables. The newspaper here is 36 pages long, tripling the size of the free edition,

  • The Voice, NBC's heavily hyped rival to American Idol, premiered last night with a two-hour episode that sought to prove this series isn't concerned about its contestants' looks (because nobody in the music biz gives a hoot about frivolous things like beauty, right? Right? Hello?) and explain the most complex reality-show rules since The Mole. The public was interested in seeing what this thing was all about -- nearly 12 million viewers tuned in -- but critics were split as to whether seeing Christina Aguilera spin around like Doctor Evil for 120 minutes was time well spent.

What did we enjoy most? The new likable Christina Aguilera! Cee Lo Green's Misfits T-shirt! Those high-tech chairs!

What did the critics who liked the show praise the most? The chance to see four big stars banter as they battled for team members (Yahoo!'s own Reality Rocks), Aguilera's saucy dominance of the squad of coaches (Billboard), and the interesting mix of talent auditioning (Rolling Stone).

    And then

  • Just one day after the Smashing Pumpkins' reissue extravaganza announcement, Paul McCartney has revealed he also has plans to drop special editions of two of his solo albums, 1970's McCartney and 1971's McCartney II. One of the greatest living artists reissuing two of his greatest solo albums, kinda like a big deal. The eponymous LP and its sequel will both arrive June 14th with remastered sound (courtesy of the Abbey Road team that perked up the recent Beatles reissues), live cuts, demos, B-sides, and even some unreleased material. These albums come from an age where McCartney effortlessly pumped out timeless melodies, so we're especially excited to hear the unearthed stuff.

Both McCartneys will also be available as deluxe editions with hardcover books of photos and artwork and DVDs of music videos and live footage. Check out McCartney's site for the full details. The only downside to the announcement is that McCartney still hasn't revealed plans to reissue his and Linda McCartney's

  • If you're a hacker who makes a living by sneaking into Twitter profiles and posting bogus links, Lady Gaga's account is probably the Holy Grail of Social Networking: Nearly 10 million followers, an army of Little Monsters eager to retweet anything she writes, and national exposure. Last night, one hacker managed to do the impossible when, like Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, they infiltrated Gaga's Twitter and sent out questionable links to her fans. Maybe Gaga shouldn't have made her password "Judahjudahah1234."

"TAROT de shakira [Link Redacted For Your Safety] clarividente de @shakira #horoscopo ganar dinero navegando," read one of the tweets rifled out by the hacker. Our free Spanish-to-English translator might be rusty, but we think that means "TAROT Shakira clairvoyant horoscope earn money surfing," or typical spam stuff. Gaga quickly caught wind of what was going on and reclaimed her account while spouting more of those annoying religious references she's been laying since

  • Earlier this month, Beyoncé got involved with Michelle Obama's "Let's Move!" campaign aimed at preventing childhood obesity, reworking her 2007 track "Get Me Bodied" into "Move Your Body" a.k.a. "Stop Playing Xbox and Eat a Damn Carrot or You Will Never Look as Fierce as I Do." Today her full-length video for the song arrived (via Rap Up), essentially a step-by-step instructional guide to relatively simple choreography that's more "Sweatin' to the Oldies" than "Single Ladies." And while the kids cast in the clip set in a school cafeteria are holding their own doing the Dougie next to Beyoncé... they are still dancing next to Beyoncé, which is like giving a biology lecture standing beside the Shiba Inu puppy cam. B wraps the clip waving an American flag and chomping on an apple, which is about as patriotic as you can get.

  • After Diddy's concert last week at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom, the Bad Boy mogul needed to get from the West Side venue to a West Orange, New Jersey club pretty quickly. Complicating matters further, Diddy's helicopter did not receive permission to use a nearby helipad in time. Faced with no helicopter and the dreaded Lincoln Tunnel traffic, and with a $75,000 club appearance fee on the line, Diddy made the logical move: Have your dry cleaner arrange a police escort. We always assumed that a police escort was just a perk of being a celebrity, but that apparently is not the case because New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg is not happy with the NYPD right now.

There are conflicting reports about whether the police escort just accompanied the Diddy motorcade to the nearby Lincoln Tunnel or all the way to West Orange, but what we do know is that Diddy's dry cleaner was the one who made the plans. That seems to overstep the dry cleaner's job duties, but whatever. "The bottom line is the

What are you doing right now? Are you saving an innocent civilian's life? No? Then you are not living up to the potential of our nation's hard-working pop stars. In the past three days alone, there have been reports about not one but two people escaping injury or death as a result of the efforts of the New Kids on the Block and Lady Gaga.

"I helped a fan get a kidney for a transplant. Well, my Twitter followers did. It's really amazing," Donnie Wahlberg told an NKOTB fansite (via a story in TMZ that was totally not planted by his publicist). "Some fans made sure I got a message about this woman who needed a transplant, and she ended up with three matches. ... I feel blessed and grateful to be a part of it."

Lady Gaga didn't have such a hands-on role in preserving the life of one of her fans who suffered a seizure during a Monster Ball show in Nashville over the weekend. According to Us Weekly, 33-year-old Crystal Thornton's heart stopped beating for five minutes during the opening

  • When you pack 50,000 fans of Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax into one location -- in this case, the Big Four's concert this weekend at Indio, California -- and add heat and alcohol, on paper it seems like you've got a recipe for disaster. Flashbacks of Altamont and Woodstock '99 instantly come to mind. But the police reports from the Big Four show are in... and surprisingly, metal fans didn't cause too much trouble. Roughly two-dozen people were arrested on charges ranging from drug possession to being "drunk and disorderly," KPSP Local 2 News reports, but that's the normal police blotter following any big show. As far as we know, no Metallica fans were used as a urinal this time around.

By comparison, over the course of Coachella's three days at the same venue the weekend before, there were 79 arrests. That means the arrest-per-day ratio for the high-decibel Big Four show and the indie rock-leaning Coachella was basically the same. Stack both those numbers against the 114

  • A few years ago, Roger Waters had a near-tragedy at Coachella when his flying pig broke free and soared into the desert sky, ultimately landing on someone's driveway in the form of pulled pork. This year, Coachella was prop-heavy thanks to the arrival of the Creators Project, the partnership between Vice and Intel that yielded Spiritualized's insanely cool installation and the release of 2,000 LED-lit balls during Arcade Fire's set. The balls, which dropped from above during "Wake Up," were part of a piece called Summer Into Dust that continued after the festival ended -- folks lucky enough to walk away with one of the orbs can share stories about where they wound up and change its batteries for ongoing fun.

But one poor soul seems to have misplaced his beloved Arcade FireBall and posted the following in Craigslist's Lost & Found section (we would have put it in Missed Connections): "Lost - My fireball from Arcade Fire's Coachella show. Beautiful lost moments shared with my ball.

  • The Smashing Pumpkins -- or Billy Corgan and whoever's in the band now -- have spent the last two years giving fans free music from their still-unfinished Teargarden by Kaleidyscope. Well, prepare to spend some money: In a mammoth announcement today, Corgan laid the blueprint to reissue the band's entire pre-Zeitgeist catalog as well as release a new album. The first phase of the reissue project -- Gish, Siamese Dream, and Pisces Iscariot -- will be unfurled this year. In 2012, we'll get Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, Adore, and B-side collection The Aeroplane Flies High. It'll all wrap up in 2013 with a reissue that merges Machina/The Machines of God and Machina II: The Friends & Enemies of Modern Music. Phew.

The flood of reissues is arriving because a feud between the Pumpkins and their longtime label EMI is finally getting resolved, and according to Corgan, each album will be "reissued, remastered, with some extra tracks, unreleased things." Great news for fans praying
