  • In a new interview with the U.K.'s Daily Mail, Yoko Ono postulates that her dead husband, Beatles great John Lennon, would have loved Twitter. "He'd be sending out pronouncements and messages and giving his opinion all the time on everything," Ono says. She also suggests he'd be a Little Monster: "John would have loved [Lady Gaga], because she's an artist, she's fearless and she pushes every limit, which we both always adored."

    A few thoughts:

    • How awful, myth-destroying, and simply depressing would it be to read pedestrian life updates from one of the most brilliant songwriters of all time on an hourly basis? Did we learn nothing from watching Ozzy struggle to program his cable box on "The Osbournes"?

    • Would Lennon really tweet? The Beatles stopped performing live partially because of fallout from the sort of off-the-cuff remark (about Christianity) that Twitter encourages. Lennon preferred to make grand statements and large artistic gestures rather than wallow in the micro.

    • If he

  • Did Usher's chart-topping hit "OMG" steal a melody from "The Simpsons"? Of course not, but the above video does point out a few coincidental similarities between the two songs. As the clip shows (via Vulture), one of "OMG" 's hooks (and one of the song's more ridiculous lyrics) does sound a lot like Homer Simpson's 2003 holiday ode "Christmas in December." Again, it's unlikely that Usher sought songwriting assistance from a yellow, four-fingered cartoon icon, but it is awesome to hear Usher and Homer duet.

If this incident does somehow become a plagiarism case, "Simpsons" lawyers will likely provide evidence that the song's writer and featured guest, Will.i.am, has been accused of lifting melodies and samples (most recently, by George Clinton) numerous times over his Black Eyed Peas career. We don't think Usher would intentionally steal from "The Simpsons," but Will.i.am has traveled to a sort of cartoon dimension in the past.

  • Extra! compiled the data from a few of Forbes magazine's lists of 2010's top-earning entertainment players to make their own countdown of who in Hollywood raked in the most money in the past year. The list is led, unsurprisingly, by Oprah with a 12-month total of $315 million. Slightly more surprising is the rundown of musicians who made the Top 20, with their respective rankings and cash intake: Beyoncé (Nine, $87 million), Britney Spears (13, $64 million), Lady Gaga (14, $62 million), Madonna (15, $58 million), Miley Cyrus (18, $48 million), and Taylor Swift (19, $45 million). That's six women, all in their teens or twenties -- save for Madonna, who celebrated her Sweet 16 Plus 36 this past summer -- who record pop music.

Extra! evidently thinks rock bands and the Jigga Man aren't very "Hollywood," because according to the original Forbes list they borrowed their figures from, U2 pulled $130 million, AC/DC earned $114, and Jay-Z brought in $63 million. (U2 and AC/DC are not

  • News continues to get worse for Broadway's "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" musical: The show featuring music by U2's Bono and the Edge shut down briefly after stunt man Christopher Tierney's accident last week, then resumed preview performances incident-free, but now the New York Times reports that actress Natalie Mendoza (above, left), who plays a pivotal role as the villain Arachne in the show's second act, is leaving "Spider-Man" just a month and a half before its February 7th opening. Mendoza's Arachne sings on six songs throughout the musical, so this is a major loss so close to premiere night.

Mendoza's exit doesn't come as a complete surprise: The actress suffered a concussion during one of the show's gravity-defying wire stunts at the very first preview performance, and only recently returned to the cast. She told fans she's still experiencing post-concussion syndrome and taking a few medications. Mendoza was also hit hard by Tierney's 20-foot free fall into the orchestra pit,

  • Happy holidays from Trent Reznor: Hope you're not prone to seizures! Nine Inch Nails posted impeccably shot (and soundboard-recorded) high-def footage from the band's last-ever run of shows, the Wave Goodbye tour, on their official site over the weekend (thanks to TwentyFourBit for staying vigilant). The below clip of set opener "Somewhat Damaged" was recorded at New York's intimate Bowery Ballroom on the tour's first date, August 22nd, 2009. The gig's 27-song set list included singles like "Hurt," "The Downward Spiral," and "Head Like a Hole," as well as fan favorites and the band's cover of Joy Division's "Dead Souls," so keep an eye on the NIN site -- more epic footage could be in your future.

In the meantime, enjoy the first clip, which starts off with some interesting shots of Reznor prepping to step out onstage. If you're sensitive to bright flashing lights, beware of the 1:35 point, where it kind of looks like your retina has exploded. (Feel free to come back at 3:15, but be

  • The concert industry hasn't been immune to the problems facing the music business during the recession, and like struggling CD sales, ticket purchases were down double-digit percentages in 2010. Many of this year's top tours, from Rihanna to the Jonas Brothers, saw select dates canceled due to poor sales, and a few big artists -- like U2 and Christina Aguilera -- postponed their road trips, denying concert promoters and venues some much needed cash. Looking ahead to 2011, touring giants like Live Nation Ticketmaster think they have a way to boost revenue: lower ticket prices.

This isn't the first time the concert industry has tried luring music lovers with cheap tickets. Throughout 2010, they've experimented with 2-for-1 deals and all-inclusive prices that finally eradicated those much-maligned hidden service fees that infuriated fans for years. Still, it didn't help much, as the AP reports ticket sales were down between 12 and 16 percent in 2010 compared to 2009. Whether it was
