  • Stephen Colbert lost last night at the 63rd Annual Emmy Awards, marking the sixth straight year that he was defeated by his Comedy Central neighbor The Daily Show. There was some consolation this morning, however, as the host announced that Radiohead, who will be in New York City for the Saturday Night Live premiere, will appear on the September 26th episode of The Colbert Report, the show's first-ever hour-long episode. Why the doubled runtime? Radiohead will perform four King of Limbs songs, plus their unreleased "The Daily Mail." One more track will be played exclusively for the Colbert site. Hopefully, it's not "The Twist."

"I look forward to meeting the Radioheads and leveraging their anti-corporate indie cred to raise brand awareness for my sponsors," the host joked in a statement. Colbert hasn't spent this much time with an artist since he visited Jack White in Nashville to serenade him with Bob Seger songs and record with the Black Belles. Radiohead rarely make appearances on

  • Texas' Austin City Limits Festival went down over the weekend and we're only two days away from September 21st, which means (sigh) Summer Festival Season is officially over. But before you pack away your sunscreen and glow sticks (no judgement!) for a few months, claim you saw the fest's 10th anniversary shows -- and Kanye West's final gig promoting My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy -- by spending a few minutes on these videos:

The Biggest Bang: Arcade Fire -- "Ready to Start," "Keep the Car Running," "No Cars Go," and "Haiti"
Win Butler is originally from Texas, which is perhaps why he put a little extra oomph into the band's festival-closing set last night (someone kindly captured the first four songs -- enjoy!).

The Biggest Entrance: Kanye West -- "Dark Fantasy"
The YouTube description says it all: "Kanye West's intro from Austin City Limit's Day 1 (Sept 16). Everyone expected him to come out on stage but surprise! He's in a box right behind me!"

    The Biggest Legend: Stevie Wonder

  • It seemed like the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences had relegated its big musical moments to the Creative Arts Emmys held last week, where work featuring Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, and Eminem received honors, but even our sister blog The Set agrees one of the major highlights of last night's 63rd Annual Emmy Awards was a heavily edited-for-prime-time medley of songs from the Lonely Island that were originally featured on Saturday Night Live. Michael Bolton joined the trio for "Jack Sparrow," John Stamos, Ed Helms, and Maya Rudolpoh filled in for Andy Samberg, Justin Timberlake, and Lady Gaga on "3-Way (The Golden Rule)," and Akon proudly belted "I Just Had Sex."

All three tracks were actually nominated for Original Music & Lyrics... and were defeated by JT's "Not Gonna Sing" monologue song from SNL. Timberlake may not have showed up in person, but he loomed large of the festivities anyway -- in a hilarious nod to how often he appears on SNL, the show replaced photos of its

  • New York Fashion Week isn't just about showcasing next year's clothing lines -- it's also a time to wrangle nearly 30 supermodels and make them lip-dub 2009's biggest hip-hop song. A bunch of very attractive women spent their breaks between runway walks touring some of Manhattan's most iconic spots while pretending to rap Jay-Z and Alicia Keys' "Empire State of Mind." They do a better job modeling clothes than miming Jigga -- the only one who seems to have a handle on the rhymes is Selita Ebanks, but that's probably because she was (maybe) dating the other half of the Throne. Still, this is without a doubt the greatest lip-dub ever committed to video.

Here are the models involved, according to Jay-Z's Life + Times: Selita Ebanks, Karlie Kloss, Constance Jablonski, Jourdan Dunn, Daphne Groeneveld, Edita Vilkeviciute, Hailey Clauson, Josephine Skriver, Zuzanna Bijoch, Shu Pei, Kristina Salinovic, Martha Streck, Toni Garrn, R'el Dade, Andi Muise, Ataui Deng, Chantal Stafford-Abbot,

  • Blink-182's comeback disc Neighborhoods is due September 27th, so Billboard decided to ask the reunited Cali pop-punkers some probing questions. In truth, it seems like the band's label got the hardest queries of the bunch (there are many impressive quotes from Interscope honcho Dennis Dennehy in there), but we did manage to gain some insights into Team Blink from the story:

If you think you've had a bad time the past few years, forget it. Blink-182 have been through hell. Hell!
"[The album] is lyrically pretty heavy in a lot of places," bassist/singer Mark Hoppus tells the magazine. "Maybe that's where we are in our heads. We've gone through a lot of stuff over the past few years. We're in a better place because of it all -- but we've gone through some s---."

Blink-182 have been gone so long! (How long was it?)
So long, "the band's previous video was released before YouTube existed."

Tom DeLonge's post-Blink band did a lot better in 2006 than Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker's group.

  • Sometimes the worlds of music and movies collide in strange ways. On the same day that The Projector-approved film Drive hits theaters (for better or worse), an early unreleased song by Daft Punk called "Drive" appears on the web. As The Amp wrote last month, the 17-year-old track was originally intended as the B-side of the 1994 single "Rollin' and Scratchin'." But instead of getting released, the DAT tape sat in the offices of Soma Records until last month, when it was finally discovered.

"Drive" definitely recalls the work of a young Daft Punk -- the simple speaker-crushing kick drum that paces the song sounds like a million other dance songs from that era, but some textbook Daft flourishes emerge like the brassy synth melodies and a simple, robotic vocal hook. Anyone hoping for a lost "Around the World" will be disappointed, but it's a new old Daft Punk song, so just enjoy it. It's unfortunate that "Drive" didn't leak six months earlier, because the track would've provided Ryan
