  • Britney Spears' international arena tour supporting her latest album Femme Fatale launches tonight in Sacramento! But the newswires aren't just flooded with reports about how awesome the concert is from bloggers brought in to boast about seeing an early version of the show -- there are two stories today about the side of the Spears tour Team Britney would prefer just Oops'd their way out the door: the legal conservatorship that paints the 29-year-old star as a mentally incapable child.

    • Spears' ex-manager Sam Lutfi, who is either a drug-pushing demon or simply a manipulative demon depending on whose accounts of 2006-2008 you believe, had asked a judge to force Britney to undergo a psychological evaluation to prove she is mentally fit to testify in court (he's suing the star's mother, Lynne, for making what he claims are defamatory statements in her book, Through the Storm). Britney's team says the singer is not capable of making statements in court, though she is evidently A-OK to

  • Music biopics are huge in Hollywood these days as productions about everyone from Queen to Kurt Cobain to James Brown to the Clash are in the works. They're all big stars, but the biopic that has really had grabbed young actors' attention is the proposed film about the life of Jeff Buckley, the Grace rocker who died in a tragic swimming accident in 1997 at the age of 30.

Since news of a Buckley biopic was announced, actors James Franco and Robert Pattinson were viewed as frontrunners for the role, with Buckley's own mother Mary Guibert, an executive producer on the film, mentioning them as the favorites. However, a WB star has swooped in and taken the job.

Penn Badgley, or "Dan Humphrey" as he's commonly known on Gossip Girl, has reportedly won the Buckley role, Hollywood Life reports. Until we hear it from The Projector or the Hollywood Reporter, this news is still "reportedly," but Badgley is said to be "over the moon" about being cast as the singer whose version of "Hallelujah"

  • The premise of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25th Anniversary Concerts in October 2009 was classic rockers jamming with younger bands. But when it was Metallica's turn to share the stage, frontman James Hetfield made an admission: "We're not the most jamming kind of band," he said. "We're a tight little unit here and don't let too many people in. Some of the names that got suggested didn't make much sense. But after meeting with them and jamming with them it makes complete sense."

The first person to join Metallica onstage has now become a BFF, mentor, and studio collaborator: Lou Reed!

"Some of you astute Bay Area residents may have picked up news of recent Lou Reed sightings in the greater San Francisco area and we have indeed been working at our home studio at HQ on and off over the last few months," the band writes in a statement on its website. "In what would be lightning speed for a Metallica related project, we recorded ten songs during this time and while at this moment

  • Just three days before their wedding, 85-year-old Playboy founder Hugh Hefner and his 25-year-old fiancée Crystal Harris have called off their nuptials. Of all the possible reasons for their split -- disagreements over Harris' allowance, Hef's other women, his enduring love of captain's hats -- one sticks out pretty clearly: Crystal wants to pursue a career in the music business. "The breakup was amicable," Harris' rep said in a statement today. "Crystal will now be focusing on her music career and her new single 'Club Queen,' which was released today."

How convenient! It's coming out today!? Shut up!

Earlier this week, Harris told Radar music is in her blood. "I had a lot of fun and this is a way to give back to my fans. My dad was a singer in the U.K., and I got my pipes from him!" Today a source told TMZ Harris believed she "couldn't be married to Hef and have a successful music career."

So what does Harris' debut song sound like? A Britney Spears outtake. It may even be sung by

  • Shazam, Now With Lyrics

Back in primitive times, when faced with an unfamiliar song, one would first have to use the music-identifying app Shazam to determine "what's the name of this song again?" before heading to a search engine to find its lyrics at one of a million shady lyrics sites. Here in 2011, that multi-step process has been streamlined into one simple action: Shazam has introduced song lyrics to their already-awesome service, allowing bar patrons to sing along to whatever track they're awkwardly holding up their cell phone to identify. Or when testing Your Cover's Blown.

According to Mashable, Shazam implemented this breakthrough lyrical technology after acquiring a company called Tunezee, which coordinates the lyrics you're seeing with what part of the song is playing, like karaoke. We tested Shazam's new lyrics feature on a Cut Copy song we were listening to while writing this item, and it worked, kind of! It produced the proper lyrics, but we weren't able to get the lyrics to "scroll in time to

  • The Osbournes sold their reality TV mansion, and as far as we can tell, there's no evidence that Ozzy purchased property in Lake Tahoe, but that didn't stop one inebriated fan from searching for his idol in the California town. According to the Tahoe Daily Tribune, an 18-year-old male used a flowerpot to shatter a house's glass panel at about 4:15 a.m. Monday morning. When the police arrived and asked the teen what he was doing there, he responded simply that he was there to see Ozzy Osbourne. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), Ozzy Osbourne was not there.

A Breathalyzer found that the kid had a blood alcohol content double the legal limit, which was exacerbated by the fact that the legal limit for a minor under 21 is zero. Police arrested the teen, but not before he racked up $8,000 worth of damage on the property (that must have been one fancy flowerpot).

We don't want to stereotype, because we know how well-behaved metal fans are, but Ozzy is one of maybe five rockers we can

  • Who's Number One: After selling 1.1 million albums in a week and carrying out a media blitz of Biblical proportions, Lady Gaga has fallen out of the Billboard Top 200's prime spot after just two weeks. Her replacement: Adele's 21, which clocks in at Number One for the tenth time this year with 114,000 copies sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan -- 14,000 more than Born This Way in its third week in stores. Gaga's new video for "The Edge of Glory" premieres Thursday night on So You Think You Can Dance, so she may see a bump next week -- perhaps even a big enough push to propel her back into Number One, unless America's Got Talent wunderkind Jackie Evancho pulls a Boyle and steals the top spot.

What Is God's Name Is Going on In Number Three!? The soundtrack to the Broadway musical The Book of Mormon -- the Tony-winning production brought to you by the makers of South Park -- had a massive week, selling 61,000 copies for a 2,116 percent leap. A few days before the show won nine trophies
