Dept. of Nooooo: Kelly Clarkson Album Delayed Until September

We sincerely hope Kelly Clarkson is spending whatever money she may have previously paid a publicist on her new baby goat, Nitric, because the singer has pretty much handled all of her own press releases for the past year. Last night in a Facebook update, she broke the extremely depressing news that her now-complete, awesome-sounding, eclectic album is being held for release until the fourth quarter of 2011. "I recently found out that my album won't be coming out until September. The album has been recorded, but I can't release it until then," she wrote. "I realize that is a long time, but that's the best time to release it apparently so I'm sorry for the wait, but I promise you it sounds great!"

Why does Clarkson sound resoundingly chipper in light of this crappy news? Delaying her fifth disc insures it won't compete with any of the other big pop albums coming out this spring (Britney Spears, Lady Gaga) and provides Clarkson with a few more months of downtime before she has to gear up for an exhausting promotional push. That means more Facebook updates about loving Adele, delicious cornbread, and reenacting great moments from "Raiders of the Lost Ark."
