"They said 30's the new 20, funny, must mean 40's the new 30, interesting, 'cause ever since there's been an extension for veteran rappers that are better than half the s--- that coming out right now, it's all trash, the torch is gonna burn out before it gets passed," Dre raps in a verse he probably didn't write about the dark future of hip-hop. Eminem then chimes in with one of those sing-along choruses that Em, Jigga, and Dre all mock before 50 Cent launches into his verse by teasing his own biggest hit "In Da Club."
The best news in all this is that "Syllables" is a pretty good song, and the second straight good song -- following "Kush" and its amazing music video -- off the eternally delayed "Detox." (The "new" version of the year-old leaked track "Topless" that also surfaced yesterday is less impressive, however.) Maybe "Detox" will be something more than Dr. Dre's "Chinese Democracy" after all.
