Based on the quick sell-outs of Coachella and Lollapalooza, demand for tickets to this summer's music festivals seems to be at its greatest. And there's no shortage of artists eager to cash in on one-off festival gigs: Even bands like Phish, Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band, and Wilco are getting in on the act. Enter the inaugural Kanrocksas Festival, which will set up its stage at the Kansas City Speedway on August 5th and 6th. Two nights, and two powerhouse headliners: Eminem and Muse. (Both Eminem and Muse have also been tagged as headliners for Lollapalooza that same weekend, so they'll probably head straight from Kansas City to Chicago.)
Surprisingly, Kansas will not be there to play "Dust in the Wind" and "Carry On My Wayward Son." However, joining the big two on the bill are the Flaming Lips, the Black Keys, Primus, A Perfect Circle, Kid Cudi, D12 (a package deal with Eminem), Girl Talk, Arctic Monkeys, and more. Sure, it looks a lot like every other summer festival, but if you've lived in rock-starved Kansas all these years, it's a rare opportunity to see Eminem in the Sunflower State. Tickets for Kanrocksas -- presumably pronounced "Kan-rock-sas" and not like "Arkan-rock-sas" -- go on sale tomorrow at the fest's official site.
