Hear Green Day’s Touching Tribute to Amy Winehouse

Despite the fact that the invite The Amp received to last Thursday's "secret" Green Day Cystic Fibrosis Foundation benefit show in Costa Mesa, California, had a "STRICT NO CAMERA, NO CELL PHONE POLICY," some lovable scamps smuggled music out the Tiki Bar. Fansite Green Day Authority reports that Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool debuted 15 new songs and just before a cover of Ozzy Osbourne's "Goodbye To Romance" they played a fresh track called "Amy" which the trio has since confirmed is an Amy Winehouse tribute song.

The recording is very fuzzy, but you can hear Armstrong singing the '50s-rock-inflected melody accompanied only by his guitar. The full lyrics are posted on Green Day's site, but here are a few key passages:

"Is your heart singing out of tune
Are your eyes just singing the blues
Dirty records from another time
Some blood stains on your shoes"

"You're too young for the golden age
Cause the record bin's been replaced
27 gone without a trace
And you walked away from your drink"
