Jay-Z just learned a $50,000 lesson about hanging out with college kids -- the NBA fined the rapper for celebrating the Kentucky Wildcats' Elite Eight victory in their locker room during last month's NCAA basketball tournament. While celebrity guests are a staple in the Kentucky locker room, because Jay-Z is a part owner of the "professional" basketball team the New Jersey Nets, his hang out was deemed "impermissible contact with collegiate players," Rivals reports.
Kentucky has about four in-demand players who are expected to declare their NBA eligibility, and the league viewed Jay-Z's interaction with them as an unfair scouting advantage, which it is. Who wouldn't want to be on Jay-Z's team? Thankfully for Jay-Z, $50,000 is like pocket change. He probably could have visited every locker room of every winning team in the entire tourney and the fines wouldn't have made a dent in his bank account.
