Jamaican-American singer Sean Kingston was critically injured in Miami Beach on May 29th when the jet ski he was piloting struck a bridge. According to initial reports from the scene, the 21-year-old artist was puking blood and got pretty banged up. But in a new interview with MTV News' Sway
, Kingston admitted he was in a real "life-or-death situation." As he was about to be discharged from the hospital he experienced chest pains and doctors discovered he had a torn aorta -- that's the very serious condition that suddenly killed Obama adviser Richard Holbrooke
Kingston underwent several surgeries to repair his damaged aorta and now says he's "100 percent," a fact he tried to demonstrate by joining Nicki Minaj onstage in late July to perform their hit "Dutty Love." "I've been in the house chilling, about to start work on my new album," he said. "I got L.A. Reid now as my new president. I got a story to tell now." So everyone should expect a lot of songs about watercraft crashes and cardiac surgery on Kingston's next album!
