Lady Gaga Loses Her Head and Her Creative Director

Lady Gaga is such a nonconformist that she celebrates Halloween midway through November. After a lackluster performance at the MTV European Music Awards, Mother Monster responded with her one-woman rendition of Sleepy Hollow as she sang her new single "Marry the Night" on the U.K. X Factor. Someone has been watching a lot of American Horror Story. So many people pretend to Gaga on October 31st, its fitting that she opted for such a popular costume. While this "Marry" might be Gaga's noteworthy presentation since her egg stunt at the Grammys, like her EMA performance, Gaga herself doesn't do much dancing. There's a reason for that…

We don't want to analyze too deeply into her X Factor performance, but this Ichabod Crane version of "Marry the Night" could be viewed as a metaphor for something else that happened to Gaga this weekend: According to the Hollywood Reporter, Gaga and her longtime creative director Laurieann Gibson parted ways after the two had a "bitter fight." Gibson, perhaps best known for her time on Diddy's MTV show Making the Band, had worked with Lady Gaga ever since Stefani Germanotta signed with Interscope in 2007. She also choreographed all of Gaga's music videos, from "Beautiful, Dirty, Rich" to "You & I," with the exception of "The Edge of Glory." On that video's set, Gaga and Gibson reportedly experienced creative differences.

So, why Gaga's headless routine her way of showing that she has severed the brains behind her choreography? Probably not, but it does add an extra element of intrigue to this performance.
