A Day in the Boring Life: John Lennon To-Do List Hits Auction Block

Gottahaverockandroll.comBeatles, they're just like us! They watch HBO, and worry about how much is left in the gas tank. To complete the trifecta of ridiculous John Lennon items up for auction -- following his toilet and his tooth — comes this handwritten to-do list that gives an insightful look at the day-to-day life of the "Imagine" singer. And who knew being John Lennon could be so mundane? Picking up marmalade, putting Sean Lennon's mattress back in its room (what was it doing out of Sean's room?), and arranging the photo book are among the activities John planned for himself on May 22nd (year unknown).

The numbered to-do list also finds Lennon struggling to get his HBO hooked up ("BE THERE," he notes, since the cable guy is scheduled to arrive between 3 and 5 p.m.), and wondering in writing, "Would it be a good idea to make sure BOTH CARS have full GAS TANKS?" And don't forget to ask Steve D. about the herbs for the cat! We also learn that Lennon was reading a book by the Norwegian adventurer Thor Heyerdahl, but he lent it to Sam Green and now wants it back. Green, it should be noted, borrowed much more than just a book from Lennon: The art dealer was rumored to have an affair with Yoko Ono.

Gotta Have Rock and Roll is auctioning the item starting tomorrow. This to-do list, with its minimum $3,000 opening bid, is a bargain compared to the $14,000 Lennon's toilet sold for and the $31,000 his tooth fetched.
