In addition to being Hollywood elite and insanely good-looking, ScarJo also packs a unique, smoky singing voice, which she showcased on her underrated album of Tom Waits covers, 'Anywhere I Lay My Head'. (Her follow-up 'Break Up' with Pete Yorn was disappointing, however.) While the starlet and the Rat Packer might seem like an odd couple on paper, Johansson's sleek coo serves as a great complement to Martin's rich baritone.
Johansson's work on "I'll Be Home" easily marks the best rendition of a Christmas song by a Jewish celebrity since Neil Diamond's 'A Cherry, Cherry Christmas'. The duet is also our favorite version of an Xmas tune by an actress since Zooey Deschanel's sultry, star-making take on "Baby, It's Cold Outside" in 'Elf':
And just because it doesn't get enough love, here's ScarJo's cover of Tom Waits' "Fallin' Down." Hear David Bowie's vocals in the background? It's the last thing Ziggy Stardust recorded before going into retirement, and it could be the last time Bowie's voice ever graces a song again:
- Scarlett Johansson
- Dean Martin
