Remember when The Amp called out one moment in Lady Gaga's HBO special for being particularly spectacular -- the a cappella version of "Born This Way" Gaga sang with her backup singers over the closing credits? Republican presidential hopeful Tim Pawlenty totally watched the show too, and he was really into the exact same part!
After a trio of interviewers from Glittarazzi quizzed the politician on his favorite music -- he loves Bruce Springsteen, John Mellencamp, Kenny Chesney, George Strait, Tim McGraw, Toby Keith, and the Zac Brown Band -- Pawlenty turned the tables and asked for their favorite Lady Gaga song. After a few seconds with no consensus, Tim took control of the conversation, because there was a point he clearly wanted to make:
"In terms of the beat, I like 'Born Romance.' I gotta say, even though she's a little unusual, Born This Way has got some appeal," he continued (via ONTD). "She's actually very talented. If you go to the end of the HBO special -- the Lady Gaga HBO special -- and you watch her sing a cappella, 'Born This Way,' she can sing. She can definitely sing. She's talented. Interesting.... talented... a little weird. But if you had to limit your artistic choices to just conservatives, we wouldn't have a lot of choices, so you've got to be willing to tolerate different politics."
Those are some bizarrely good points, Tim Pawlenty! Very interesting to see a public servant who's proven he's not so big on gay rights shout out the year's biggest gay anthem. Maybe he prefers the Malaysian radio edit.
