No Doubt were supposed to put out their first new album since 2001 this year, meaning there would be a neat 10-year break between Rock Steady and the to-be-named fresh LP. But according to a blog post from the band spotted by Idolator, that isn't happening because Gwen Stefani and Co. are a bunch of slow lorises.
"Ideally our new record would be coming out this year but it's just not ready yet," the band writes. "We don't want to rush this album just to get it out. This collection of songs means everything to us and our only priority right now is to make sure that it's the best album we can possibly make. There is still more work for us to do..."
Rush? No offense, No Doubt, but you've had a lot of time to work on this thing already. The first blog posts about songwriting began in March 2008. The band entered the studio in May 2010. In January 2011, they said they were really, seriously getting down to business. In June, Stefani confirmed her solo career is a wrap and her full focus is on No Doubt. So what's going on over there, guys? (Other than having babies, playing for the Obamas, and suing Guitar Hero?)
The first comment on the blog post was "2 Words: Chinese Democracy," which made us LOL a little.
