  • Exclusive Interviews: Inside the Ups and Downs of Blink-182

Back in the days of Total Request Live, the three members of Blink-182
seemed to have barely distinguishable personalities. But anyone who has
ever spent time with Mark Hoppus, Travis Barker and Tom Delonge knows
that was never true. They are three drastically different men with very
different ideas of what the band should sound like, and how they should
evolve as a collective unit. Those problems came to a boiling point in
2005 and they took a four-year break. They reformed for a reunion tour
in 2009, and spent the last two years recording their new album Neighborhoods.

We checked in on the band backstage at the Saratoga Springs
Performing Arts Center a couple of weeks ago. Tom spent his afternoon
working on future Angels and Airwaves projects, while Travis focused on
his extensive fitness regime, and Mark met with fans and worked on his
Fuse television show Hoppus on Music. We sat down with them
separately to talk about how the band has learned to function as a unit
    after such a

  • Peter Gabriel: Possibility of Genesis Reunion Is Slim

Peter Gabriel is a man who does things on his own schedule. He's only released three studio albums of new material since 1982's Peter Gabriel IV, and he's resisted the immense pressure to reunite with Genesis
for a brief (and highly lucrative) reunion tour. He did call a band
meeting in 2005 to talk about it, but quickly changed his mind. Two
weeks ago we sat down with Gabriel to talk about his new LP New Blood, but we couldn't resist grilling him about Genesis. Later this week, we'll post the portions of the Q&A about New Blood,
future albums and tours, his love of Bruce Springsteen and the overuse
of "Solsbury Hill" in movie trailers. In the meantime, here's our
    extended interrogation about Genesis.

Is there part of you that thinks it might be fun to do a few
Genesis concerts? Wouldn't it be a great way to end the band and bring
    your career full circle?
I did talk to those guys about it
on this last round. And then it was growing into this bigger thing and I
    had all these other

  • Blondie Releases First Album in Eight Years

Blondie's new LP Panic of Girls
hit shelves on September 13th, but it's actually been in the can for
well over a year. "It took so long to get out in America because we were
figuring out how to distribute it," says Debbie Harry. "For a lot of
bands like Blondie, it becomes increasingly hard to get a record deal
because there really are no record companies. We're doing it on Amazon
    here in America."

As is always the case with Blondie, the songs on the LP are very
musically diverse - ranging in style from pop to dance and even
reggae.  "We've always tried to do a mixture," says Harry. "I've always
thought it was directly related to New York City because there's so many
different things going on there. It used to be that everything was very
regional. The radio down South used to be different than the stuff
you'd heard in New York or Chicago or Los Angeles. That's completely
changed now. I think that's one of the special things that New York has
always had. All these different styles

  • Guns N’ Roses Launching American Tour in October

American dates are beginning to slowly come in for a Guns N' Roses tour this fall. So far, they are only slated to play Orlando, Miami and Kansas City - but with a two-week gap between two of the dates, expect many more to come. The group has toured extensively overseas in recent years, but they haven't done a proper U.S. tour since 2006. The band - which features Axl Rose as its sole original member - hasn't performed since a show in Dubai last December, but they launch a 10-date tour of South America and Mexico in early October.

After more than a decade of delay, Guns N' Roses released Chinese Democracy in November of 2008. There's been much speculation that another record may one day come from material that didn't make the cut for that LP. "We certainly did record a lot of stuff," says Guns N' Roses bassist Tommy Stinson. "We recorded three records worth of material over the course of that 10-year period, but I think that a lot of the unfinished bits were mostly lyrics and mixes and

  • Rolling Stones Fuel Tour Rumors With London Meeting

All four members of the Rolling Stones were photographed exiting a building in London yesterday, fueling rumors that the band is planning a 50th anniversary tour for 2012. The band is unlikely to confirm anything for the foreseeable future, partially because Mick Jagger wants all attention focused on his new band SuperHeavy. The Stones haven't played together since their Bigger Bang tour wrapped in August of 2007. When we asked Jagger about a possible Stones tour this past May he just chuckled. "I don't have any announcement to make at the moment," he said. "I'm just, uh, ya know...just doing this [SuperHeavy] right now."

We're putting this out to our readers: What do you think Jagger is holding in that photo? We think he probably saw that there were photographers outside and covered something up in a purple towel - but what?

  • ‘Barbie Girl’ Tops Rolling Stone’s Worst Songs of the ’90s

When people look back on a decade's music they tend to focus on the good stuff - but the people who lived through the time period know better. While the 1990s certainly had amazing music, not everything on the radio was Nirvana or Radiohead. Michael Bolton, Kenny G. and Vanilla Ice sold enough records to fill 500 landfills - which is where most of those records now reside.

Last week, Rolling Stone asked readers to vote for the worst song of the 1990s. And topping the list is Aqua's "Barbie Girl."

"Barbie Girl" - written by the Danish dance-pop group Aqua - is an incredibly polarizing song. Many people were offended by the portrayal of a woman as a man's plastic doll, begging him to "undress me everywhere." Others loved the over-the-top cartoonish video and bizarre sound of the song.

Mattel (the makers of Barbie) were less than pleased that their product was being presented in such an overtly sexual way and filed a lawsuit. The courts ruled that the song was a parody and thus

  • Iggy and the Stooges Delay American Tour

Iggy and the Stooges have delayed their upcoming four-date tour of America because Iggy Pop broke his foot during a festival gig in Romania late last month. "During the show Iggy came down hard and in an unusual place on the mic stand which was laying on the floor," Stooges guitarist James Williamson wrote on Facebook. "He finally saw a doctor yesterday and has a pair of fractured metatarsal bones in his foot which will put him out of action for 6/8 weeks. It is with great regret we have to postpone the dates for LA, Vegas and San Francisco but if he goes ahead he could injure himself further and thus with a longer recovery. We are looking at rescheduling for the end of Oct/early Nov."

The injury happened sometime during the opening two numbers of "Raw Power" and "Search And Destroy." As you can see in the video below, Iggy screams out "I think I broke my foot!" after "Search and Destroy." He somehow managed to complete the gig. "Every time he looks back I can see a motherf**kin' GIANT

  • Buffalo Springfield Postpone Reunion Tour Again

In news that should be no surprise to longtime Neil Young fans, Buffalo Springfield have postponed their reunion tour. Again. The band had originally planned on launching a 30-date American tour this fall, and then they bumped their plans back to January/February 2012. They now hope to tour sometime later in 2012. "This delay happened for a multitude of reasons," Richie Furay's manager David Spero tells Rolling Stone. "The plan is still to tour next year. There's not a timeline at this point. Buffalo Springfield is at the top of Neil's list or priorities. It's just a matter of finding a time that works for everybody."

Buffalo Springfield Launch First Tour In 43 Years

Buffalo Springfield — which features original members Neil Young, Stephen Stills and Richie Furay — played their first concert in 42 years at the 2010 Bridge School Benefit. Last summer, they played six California theater dates and Bonnaroo. When we spoke to Furay in June, he told us that the band planned on playing mainly

  • Iggy Pop Says Stooges Drummer Almost Died This Summer

Iggy and the Stooges just wrapped up their annual summer tour of European festivals, but they did most of the dates without original Stooges drummer Scott Asheton - who is recovering from an undisclosed illness. "He was rushed to the hospital after our appearance at Hellfest in France," Iggy Pop tells Rolling Stone. "He was on a flight to England when all sorts of hell broke loose. Without proper medical attention right there he would have bought it. He got very, very good care from the British and all sorts of tests. He's now at home in Florida and I think he'll be fine with a lot of rest."

The Stooges are doing a four-date West Coast tour of the U.S. in September, but Asheton will miss those dates as well. "I want to get him up next year," says Iggy. "The fella that came in to do the job [Larry Mullins] is a worshipful accolade of his drumming who has been studying every four bars of our musical output since he was a teenager. He knows the songs forwards and backwards."

  • Lindsey Buckingham: Fleetwood Mac Will Return Next Year

"Working in a band is a lot like what I imagine making movies is like," says Lindsey Buckingham. "It's political and it takes a lot of verbalization to get from point A to point B. When I work alone, it's more like painting. You are one with the canvas and it's a subconscious, meditative process."

Recording his new disc Seeds We Sow (out September 6th on his own label) in his home studio, Buckingham really worked alone: producing, engineering, singing and playing nearly every instrument. "Most days I'd wake up, have my coffee, do my crossword puzzle and get there by 10:30 a.m.," he tells Rolling Stone. "And work through dinnertime. I didn't come up for air unless I had to."

Buckingham says that he didn't begin consciously writing the songs on Seeds We Sow with any sort of a theme in mind, but when he finished the disc he discovered a common thread running through his lyrics. "The songs are all about the accumulation of choices that we make everyday and the karmic part of that - which
