  • T.I. Looks Reflective, Like Peter Gabriel on ‘No Mercy’ Album Cover

The Ampifier's round-the-clock coverage of freed (Weezy!), arrested (Gucci!) and imprisoned rappers continues with the arrival of T.I.'s new album cover. "No Mercy" -- or the disc formerly known as "King Uncaged" before "King" was re-caged for an 11-month stint in an Arkansas prison over a parole violation -- is now due December 7th, according to Atlantic Records. Prior to going back behind bars, T.I. said he was working hard to ensure his very-delayed new LP (it was originally due in August) came out before year's end, but he's wisely not unleashing it on the Day That Will Save the Music Industry, where it would compete with huge releases from Kanye West and Nicki Minaj.

That's T.I.'s reflective, dour cover for "No Mercy" up top, but we can't help but think of Peter Gabriel's "Shaking the Tree" compilation artwork every time we look at it -- here's animated proof. T.I.'s track list hasn't been announced, but we wouldn't be surprised if a song called "Sledgehammer" is on there.

  • Broken Bells Borrow Hall & Oates’ Bodies for New Video

It's hard to top a music video starring everyone's "Mad Men" crush Christina Hendricks, but Broken Bells' James Mercer and Brian "Danger Mouse" Burton have blown our minds by digitally inserting themselves into Hall & Oates' awesomely '80s "Private Eyes" video for Broken Bells' new clip, "The Ghost Inside." Director Matt McCormick tells Vulture that after listening to the hand claps in both songs, he realized the "structure and tempo [of 'Private Eyes'] was pretty darn close" to "The Ghost Inside," and had the duo's mouths grafted onto the original video in what turns out to be a near-perfection synchronization.

To think, if those hand claps were separated by another microsecond, McCormick might have suggested Broken Bells get synched up with this Lionel Richie clip, which incidentally also features an impressive mustache. Check out the original "Private Eyes" and "The Ghost Inside" videos:

  • Gucci Mane Arrested After Master Class in ‘How to Violate Probation’

In early September, T.I. was nabbed by cops after making an illegal turn in his Maybach, which smelled enough like weed that cops executed a search on the vehicle and uncovered a handful of Ecstasy pills. If the bust seemed like the perfect example of what not to do on probation, Tip's fellow Atlanta MC Gucci Mane has certainly upped the ante.

As Gucci says, "Danger's not a stranger." Here's how he seemingly earned himself an all-expenses-paid trip back to the Big House:

    • Running a red light (don't do that)
    • Operating a vehicle (in this case, an inconspicuous white Hummer) without a license or proof of insurance (avoid)
    • Damage to government property (not recommended)
    • Driving on the wrong side of the road (definitely don't do that)
    • Police needed to use pepper spray to subdue Gucci in order to 1) stop him from fighting with an unnamed person and 2) bring him into custody (painful, certainly not advised)

Gucci was taken to a hospital following the incident, then spent the night in the

  • Has Prison Made Lil Wayne Too Boring?

"I Am Not a Human Being." A self-proclaimed "Martian." Lil Wayne has written countless lyrics hammering into the skulls of fans that he's an extraterrestrial and an otherworldly rapper. If science fiction has taught us anything, it's that our encounters will alien life forms will always be cinematic. "E.T.," the monoliths from "2001: A Space Odyssey," "Suburban Commando" -- it's weird, wild stuff. So why have Weezy's transmissions from prison via his Weezy Thanx You blog been so consistently boring? Has life behind bars tempered Lil Wayne?

In his final update from Rikers Island before his planned release on Thursday, Lil Wayne once again writes about how many letters he's received and how his heart is always smiling and how much he thanks everyone for their support. Essentially, the same message he's been broadcasting on his blog since May. We understand a prison stint should be spent reflecting about the crime you've committed and it's a time for serious sincerity, but couldn't Weezy

  • Kanye West Demotes Best ‘Twisted Fantasy’ Song to iTunes Bonus Track

Kanye West has at last unveiled the final track list for his new album "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy", and frankly, we have a big problem with it: the standout song "Chain Heavy" did not make the cut. We heard the majority of Kanye's new album this summer when the rapper visited Rolling Stone, and "Chain Heavy" was the highlight of the showcase, its loopy beats and anthemic chorus reminiscent of West's own "Jesus Walks," except it had nothing to do with Jesus. "They try to tell me that aliens built the pyramids, I swear life's a bitch on a period," Kanye raps on the track, displaying his obliquely oddball wordplay. "I keep that G.O.A.T. book on the Ottoman and wrote songs about slaves that were slaughtered in the 1800s... this is the makings of a masterpiece, so we broke out of the chains and told the master 'Peace!'... My chain heavy, my chain too heavy." Later, when Kanye worked the room and shook hands with everyone at the impromptu listening party, we pleaded with him, "You

  • Phish’s Halloween Costume: Boogie Rockers Little Feat

Throughout the last decade and a half, jam band Phish have dedicated one of their October 31st sets to covering a classic album by another artist. The band calls it wearing a "musical costume," a little "trick or treat" gift to fans that sure beats handing out thousands of mini-Snickers bars to concertgoers, and previous Halloween outfits include full renditions of the Beatles' "White Album," Talking Heads' "Remain in Light," the Who's "Quadrophenia" and a handful more LPs that are requisites of any good iTunes library. This year at Atlantic City, New Jersey's Boardwalk Hall, however, Phish donned a musical costume that caught most fans off-guard, covering country-fried blues-rockers Little Feat's 1978 live album "Waiting for Columbus" -- or that double-LP with the tomato-headed lady on the cover that's in your dad's dusty record collection but you didn't actually steal for your own shelf.

Last year on Halloween, Phish performed the Rolling Stones' "Exile on Main St.," which obviously
