  • Mariah Carey & Justin Bieber, Framed

It's the happiest time of the year, readers, and we welcome you to this week's extra-special, super-good installment of Framed! Like everyone, we're looking forward to Christmas, and we're celebrating by bringing two of our favorite stars, Mariah Carey and Justin Bieber, to our Yuletide blog.

Incredibly, we had Mariah in Framed this time last year, with exactly the same song! This year, though, she upped the stakes by recording a new version with Justin... and, heck, everyone knows he appears in our blog every couple of minutes.

So we thought, "What the hell. As if our readers can even remember last week."

We kid you! Our tune, "All I Want For Christmas Is You" is fast becoming a modern holiday standard, and adding JB to the mix has only made it better. He's like MSG or something.

So light the fire, pour the eggnog, and call the family 'round the monitor to enjoy yet another Christmas with Framed. We, and all of your friends here at Y! Music, wish you the merriest Christmas ever. We'll be off next week, but come back in two weeks for our extra-special year-end blog!

  • Demi Lovato, Framed

Hi, readers, and welcome back to Framed, the only blog that's guaranteed to be written by the hunt-and-peck-and-have-another-shot method.

    It's a good method!

This week we're asking, "Who is Demi Lovato, and why is she our guest artist?" And the answers are: (1) Darned if we know, and, (2) Darned if we know. But we're willing to learn!

(Pause while we read Wikipedia entry.)

OK, so that's who she is! It turns out that Demi's a singer, a songwriter, an actress, and, in general, a good and talented person. A victim of bullying as a youngster, she's also a highly visible anti-bullying activist. Good for you, Demi!

And, on top of all that, she's also a judge of The X-Factor! Sort of like Lyndsey Parker!

How she finds the time to make records is beyond us, but her first three LPs (which have all hit the top five in the U.S.) have sold over 1.5 million copies. Glad to have you here, Demi!

Our video this week, " Give Your Heart A Break," is from her third LP, Unbroken. It's a good song, and the video is equally excellent. It's all about Demi trying to win back an old boyfriend, the sort of thing everyone can relate to.

Have fun, and be back again next week, when the Yuletide spirit once again comes a-callin' at Framed!

  • The Rolling Stones, Framed

thumbrollingstones12-4-12Holy smokes! Everybody's talking about the Rolling Stones lately, as they should... the band celebrated its 50th anniversary last week in London, and will be playing three shows in the New York area later this month.

What the heck, let's read Y! Music's take on the first show.

Naturally, Framed couldn't be left out of an event of this magnitude, and we were very happy when Sir Mick Jagger cordially invited us to write captions for their great new video, "Doom and Gloom." As our schedule is quite full, we asked Sir Mick if we could just do the 2062 festivities instead, but he insisted!

  • The American Music Awards, Framed

Super exciting news, blog fans!  This week, instead of featuring a music video by a single musician or band, we're going for broke and featuring the acceptance speeches of various artists at the recent American Music Awards, the greatest such show in living memory.

It's true!  We'll be seeing Justin Bieber mostly, but also Carly Rae Jepson, Nicki Minaj, etc., as well as some country artists who seem to be famous!  Thanking  you, their fans!  It's like all of our dreams come true, if our dreams were the banal jetsam of misspent lives.

You're sure to find this new approach to Framed to be the best idea yet, so tell your family and friends there's good reading aplenty at Y! Music this week!

We'll be back next week with a quality rock band and even funnier captions!  No one can wait!

  • Lionel Richie & Shania Twain, Framed

Greetings, someone who is sitting in front of a computer! Welcome to Framed, America's favorite read and the merriest place on the internet.

Here at Framed, we're all about writing funny captions for music videos. Using our super secret "funny caption algorithm" -- the result of decades of humor research and experimentation -- we've managed to bring science to the world of funny captions.

It's something like cold fusion, if cold fusion was funny. And, yes, you're welcome.

You'll surely marvel at our use of italics, gasp at our bold approach to exclamation points, and be staggered by our innovative posing of implied, completely ridiculous questions.

And we won't even get into our uber-brief paragraphs! Don't make us come over there!

This week, our guests are Lionel Richie and Shania Twain -- titans, both! -- and their great new song, "Endless Love." Yes, Lionel's going "country"-- like Bon Jovi did recently in a brilliant attempt at relevance -- and he managed to rope in Ms. Twain for this tune.

  • Ne-Yo, Johnny Rzeznik, Herbie Hancock, Delta Rae & Natasha Bedingfield, Framed

Well, it's that time again, everybody: Time to set our clocks back an hour and return to standard time.

We kid you, readers! We did that clock stuff on Sunday!

Actually, it's time to get out there and vote! In the USA! 'Cause we rule!

This year, Mr. President Obama is running for a second term. His opponent is Mitt Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts. And what a race it's been! The polls say it's neck-and-neck as we approach Election Day, so every vote counts!

Naturally, Y! Music endorses no candidate, and Framed itself is famously non-partisan. To tell you the truth, we still don't know which of these guys we're gonna vote for. We just want you to get out there and exercise your right as a patriotic American.

In keeping with this week's election theme, our video is "Forward," a Vevo premiere put together by Ne-Yo, Johnny Rzeznik, Herbie Hancock, Delta Rae and Natasha Bedingfield, all of whom -- and this is a surprise! -- seem to support Mr. Obama.

  • Michael Jackson, Framed

Happy Halloween, readers!  This year we've decided to feature what may well be not only the greatest horror/music video ever, but what may well be the greatest music video ever: Michael Jackson's "Thriller."

Are we going over the top here?  Not at all!  "Thriller" was nominated for six VMAs (and won three), and was later actually voted "the most influential music video of all time."  And, in 2006, the Guinness Book dubbed it the "most successful music video" ever.

  • Lana Del Rey, Framed

Hey, look who'd back in Framed! It's our old friend, songstress Lana Del Rey!

This is Lana's second go-round here, and, frankly, we couldn't be happier. The occasion is her new single/video, "Ride," which already has over 7 million views on Vevo. And this is one strange song, readers. It has a spoken word intro you could call interminable, and -- here's the genius part!-- a spoken word outro, too.

We wish we could think of stuff like this.

Lana's been widely criticized during her still-young career. Her dad's a rich guy, and a lot of people seem to think she's trying to buy stardom. She did an appearance on SNL that wasn't, well, all that great, and people howled. And she's referred to herself as, no kidding, a gangsta Nancy Sinatra.

    Oh, Lana. Lana, Lana, Lana.

  • Daughtry, Framed

Is it time to start remembering old American Idol people, and to comment on their careers?

    You bet it is!

Let's start now! Go get a beer and we'll do this!

Our guest artist this week is Daughtry. To be more accurate, our guest artist this week is Chris Daughtry, who finished 4th on the famous TV show back on season we're too lazy to look it up.

Chris also has a band called -- and this is very convenient -- Daughtry! Just like him!

    Textbook cool!

  • One Direction, Framed

You may have noticed that Framed is sort of the red-headed stepchild of the Y! Music blogs.

The other blogs offer you timely information.

Framed offers. . . well . . . supposedly funny captions to music videos.

The other blogs offer you informed opinion.

And Framed offers, um, funny captions.

The other blogs offer you deep insight into music and its history. Well, not O'Connor's, but the other ones do.

    And Framed offers you captions.

    Captions.

It's all we've got. Bereft of writing skills or even an interest in music -- to tell you the truth, all's we really care about is baseball and goldfish -- we're in an interesting spot here. We get paid OK to do this, but, at times, we wonder: what in the world are we doing here?

We're pretty sure the other bloggers think this, too. Not about themselves; about us.

This week's video, "Live While We're Young" -- another great Vevo premiere! -- is courtesy of One Direction, the British quintet who've taken the world by storm. The song is actually a bit risqué, which you'll deduce after listening to the lyrics.
