  • Steven Tyler Opens Up to Howard Stern About Rehab and New Aerosmith Album

Season 10 of American Idol premieres tonight, but new host Steven Tyler has already made some great talk show appearances on the Late Show With David Letterman, Late Night With Jimmy Fallon (watch his performance below), The Howard Stern Show and Live With Regis and Kelly. On Fallon last night, Tyler marveled at sitting in the same chair as Keith Richards and broke into "Walk This Way" with the Roots and Fallon acting as hype man.

But Tyler's longest, most in-depth interview came yesterday in a surprise visit to The Howard Stern Show, where he discussed the events that led him to accept the job as a judge on Idol - a decision bandmate Joe Perry called "one step above Ninja Turtles" - along with details on rehab, his audition with Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith's new album. The band is re-forming in L.A. this Saturday (without Perry) to begin working on its first album of original material since 2001's Just Push Play.

  • Cold War Kids Grow Up on ‘Mine Is Yours’

"We used to share the live aesthetic with White Stripes and Black Keys-type bands, but we really wanted to do something richer and classier," says Cold War Kids singer Nathan Willett, discussing his band's third album Mine is Yours, out January 25. The LP was recorded over three months in Nashville and Los Angeles with Jacquire King (The Kings of Leon, Tom Waits).

The indie band — Willett, drummer Matt Aveiro, bassist Matt Maust and guitarist Jonnie Russell — first garnered blog buzz for stripped, soul-tinged storytelling songs like 2006's "We Used to Vacation." But Mine Is Yours features sprawling arrangements — the title track features a minute-long Joshua Tree-inspired intro — of personal tracks outfitted with gigantic drums and reverb-soaked guitar.

Willett, who is 31, also spent time perfecting his trademark high-pitched, often warbley voice. "[My vocals] were emotionally good, but this record was really about getting it right — singing a song 10 more times and just get it to

  • Willie Nelson Arrested for Pot Possession

Willie Nelson was arrested yesterday at a border patrol checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas after agents reportedly found 6 ounces of marijuana on his tour bus. Mickey Raphael, Nelson's longtime harmonica player, tells Rolling Stone that the singer, who posted a $2,500 bond was freed by 1:30 p.m. yesterday, is in good spirits. "He said he feels great — he lost six ounces."

Raphael says Nelson, 77, was traveling without his band from California, where he spent the Thanksgiving holiday, to Austin, TX, where he owns a ranch. The El Paso Times reports that agents at a checkpoint searched his bus, called the Honeysuckle Rose III, at 9 a.m. Nelson admitted the pot was his and was taken to the local Hudspeth County jail.

"It's kind of surprising, but I mean we treat him like anybody else," Hudspeth County Sherriff Arvin West told the newspaper. "He could get 180 days in county jail," the

  • Exclusive: ?uestlove on Rocking With Springsteen

Backing Bruce Springsteen on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon Tuesday night was a near-surreal experience for The Roots drummer ?uestlove. "During rehearsal, when the producer said, 'Ladies and gentleman, 'Because The Night' with the Professor and Little Steven, here's Bruce Springsteen and The Roots' — I couldn't move," ?uestlove tells Rolling Stone. "And they were looking at me like, 'Okay count the song off.' And I was like, I said, 'Holy shit. I heard that.'"

He adds: "I mean, I've done some intense playing on our show, but that was the most intense playing I've ever done. He completely surpassed any expectation I've ever had for any mythical god of rock figure."

In a rare talk show appearance to promote the new Darkness on the Edge of Town box set, Springsteen chatted with Fallon on the couch about everything from his brother-in-law to the setbacks of new technology. Alongside The Roots and E Street band members Steven Van Zandt and keyboardist Roy Bittan, he ripped through
