  • Visit The Indie-Folk Dreamscape Of The Wilderness Of Manitoba

Although Manitoba is over a thousand miles away from their home base in Toronto, indie-folk band The Wilderness of Manitoba radiates the muted serenity of a gentle snowfall on the Canadian landscape. Lead by vocalist Will Whitwham, the five-piece band's minimal, multi-instrumental arrangements produce cascading, dreamy songs where every tiny tinker is crucial. Members Scott Bouwmeester, Stefan Banjevic, Melissa Dalton and Sean Lancaric round out the band--I won't even get into what everyone plays; it'll be too much text.

Freshly formed from Craigslist, local shows and comedy clubs, TWOM released a five-song EP Hymns of Love and Spirits in 2009, and released their debut album When You Left The Fire this past May. You'll see from the live videos we were lucky enough to get that their "studio" sound (they recorded at home and at a local church) doesn't deviate much from their live sound. That lack of disparity adds to the wonderfully authentic quality of their music. A very cute tidbit

Like warm molasses poured over a broken heart, the soulful, blues-folk sounds of Amos Lee is unmistakably soothing, yet moving. The Philadelphia singer-songwriter needs little more than an acoustic guitar and a soapbox to stand upon to spin the lovelorn parables and lifelong truths his music delves into.

Working in a jazz record store during school, then as an elementary school teacher and bartender, Lee's first self-released EP caught the ear of Norah Jones in 2004, who invited him to tour with her. Since, he's toured with music giants like Bob Dylan, Paul Simon and Elvis Costello. Four albums later, his smooth, all-encompassing sound is at its most mature with his latest release Mission Bell, produced by Calexico's Joey Burns. Willie Nelson and Lucinda Williams (with whom he just wrapped a brief tour) and many others guest on Bell.

But only with your own eyes and ears can you experience the depth of Lee's sound. So take in these exclusive live videos of Amos Lee performing "Behind

  • Lady Gaga’s Drag King Alter-Ego Returns On “Yoü And I” Single Cover

Male model Jo Calderone is back! On Friday, Lady Gaga tweeted the cover for her latest single "Yoü And I" featuring Calderone's disheveled, greaser good looks. The song is country-infused homage to her on-and-off boyfriend, musician and bartender Luc Carl, and his home state of Nebraska.

In summer 2010, images of Calderone hit the Internet and immediate speculation popped up that it was Lady Gaga in disguise--which the singer denied. Calderone appeared on the cover of Vogue Hommes Japan, one of the most avant-garde of the Vogue publications, accompanied by a interview that described him as a 21-year-old, Sicilian, muscle-car-loving mechanic who modeled for fun. (Really, what "for fun" model gets a Vogue cover?!) Calderone said he and Gaga met at the photo shoot, that took her out afterwards, and "the rest is private."

It later became clear that Calderone was really an embodiment of Lady Gaga's perfect man, but the photos of her in drag certainly made me double-take. Gaga stylist

  • "Gaga by Gaultier": The one-of-a-kind television special! Fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier gets all Barbara Walters on pop star Lady Gaga in a unique interview airing this fall. The special will kick off the CW Network's fall season and is scheduled just before Spring 2012 Fashion Week (which they show in the fall) begins. This meeting of top-notch fashionista minds is a nice choice for their viewers, particularly since CW airs the fashion-savvy "Gossip Girl" and "America's Next Top Model."

Having never met face-to-face before, Gaga and Gaultier tour his atelier in Paris, peek his latest designs, and chat about art, fashion, stardom, her tight-fisted image control, and the use of "provocation as a marketing tool." Being a person whom Gaga must admire, Gaultier was probably able to get some deeper information and ideas from her than Larry King or other interviewers have. I personally wouldn't mind getting some real tips from her on becoming a mega-brand.

This is a smart move on

  • It's not every day that actress A-List star wanders backstage at a band's show and offers to direct a music video. But for Best Coast, it's old news. Lead singer for the indie-rock trio Bethany Cosentino told Rolling Stone earlier this year, "[Drew Barrymore] ended up coming backstage and we hung out...We were like, 'Okay, how can we work together?'"

With a celebrity director at the helm, Best Coast then recruited a slew of promising young actors through MTV's and Mean Magazine's Supervideo, a music video series that links up buzz bands with emerging red-carpet regulars. Other Supervideos have included Academy Award nominee Anna Kendrick for LCD Soundsystem's "Pow Pow" and Emma Roberts and Dave Franco for up-and-coming band Cults' "Go Outside."

I'm just going to come out and say that I couldn't help but get a little emotional at the end of Best Coast's Drew-directed video, "Our Deal." (I'm a total sucker for a leather-jacketed bad girl, not to mention babes with pompadours.) The West

  • Redlight King Stops For Blue-Collar Living And Neil Young

Bringing a bleak but reverent piece of "Steel Town" Canada, Redlight King filled the Yahoo! Music office with heavy-hearted rock, a tinge of hip-hop, and lots of rich storytelling during is recent visit. The lyrics of singer-songwriter Mark Kasperczyk (better known as Kaz) read like a detailed diary of his experiences growing up and struggling as a musician. With small quirks like a standup bass and Kaz playing a left-handed guitar, Redlight King offers an introspective take on blue-collar living and leaving it behind.

Having grown up in Hamilton, Ontario, and writing songs since childhood, Kaz moved to Los Angeles after hitting the rock bottom outlined in his music. But one of his most buzzed-about accomplishments was getting a blessing from the great Neil Young to let Kaz sample some of his work--not just a piece of a melody, but an actual sample of Neil Young singing "Old Man" with Kaz rounding off the iconic chorus. The middlemen said no, but Young himself said yes. That alone is

  • Rebecca Black’s Newest Music Video Yawns For Redemption

Looks like Rebecca Black is digging for a couple more "moments." Somehow, despite getting the worst online thrashing in YouTube history, the "Friday" singer shot back with yet, another song, "My Moment." But with high hopes of another delightfully tacky video, Black opted for an overall snoozer.

An introspective, but still slightly dancey tune, the now 14 year-old singer calls out all her haters and flaunts the opportunities that internet mass hatred has brought her: back-up dancers, limo rides and movie premieres. The voice is still not great, heavily supported by autotune, but she's refined her look and brims with confidence--and that's not what the internet wants. With her online fame based on "Friday" being deliciously ripe for parody, "My Moment" just might cut what few moments she had left short.

Black recovered a bit from her viral nightmare-coaster with her cameo as Kathy Beth Terry's best friend and makeover savior in Katy Perry's video for her chart-topping, "Last Friday

  • Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez Crash Malibu Wedding!

While not everyone can say their wedding was the best day of their lives, for one lucky couple, it will ring true even if things don't work out. This past weekend, pop sensation Justin Bieber and singer girlfriend Selena Gomez decided to crash Rob and Jeanine McCool's wedding, and it's caught on video! Most brides would be more than miffed to let anything or anyone outshine her on her wedding day, but I'm sure this bride took exception.

According to a cousin of the new couple who attended the wedding, Bieber overheard the reception karaoke-ing his song "One Less Lonely Girl" (appropriate wedding song) while driving by and pulled over to see what the scene was about. In true form, he caused a riot among the flabbergasted guests and happily posed for pictures with guests and the bride and groom. Gomez, playing patient girlfriend, stayed to the side during the commotion and waited for Bieber by his car. The appearance only lasted about ten minutes, but like all weddings, the memories will

Closing out this year's Chorus des Hauts-de-Seine Festival, Seun Kuti, the youngest sonof the legendary Afrobeat musician and human rights activist Fela Kuti, swagged upon the Parisian stage backed by his father's multitudinous band, Egypt 80. Their funky, soulful, rhythm-driven music has proven its timelessness, being as deep and exciting as it was decades ago.

Leadsinger and saxophonist like his father, Kuti has been on stage since childhood, opening for his father as early as nine years-old. After Fela's death in1997, Seun carried on the music at just 14. So it's no surprise that Seun inherited hisfather's talent, while bringing his own exuberant style to the spotlight.

Produced by ambient music's founding father Brian Eno, Seun Kuti's sophomore album with Egypt 80 sits at the front of the Afrobeat revival, bringing it's sound and political fervor to the current generation. Be the first to watch an exclusive clip of Seun Anikulapo Kuti & Egypt 80perform "Slave Masters" off their

  • A Tribe Called Quest Documentary Party Cuts The Controversy And Celebrates

The controversy-riddled documentary Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels Of A Tribe Called Quest, directed by the outgoing Michael Rapaport, was celebrated at a release party on July 7, held in conjunction with the inaugural night of bi-monthly Los Angeles party Paper Ships. The line outside snaked endlessly around the block with Tribe fans, and inside the ornate, marble-staircased venue, A Tribe Called Quest member Phife Dawg was joined in the lineup with VJ sets from hip-hop acts Madlib, Peanut Butter Wolf, and Prince Paul in the booming, smoke-machine-fogged main stage room.

Since the film's lauded debut at Sundance in January, there hasn't been a unanimous consensus within the Tribe ranks about it. At first, Phife was the film's only advocate, being the only member to show up at Sundance while the others sat it out. Slowly, Jarobi White and Ali Shaheed Muhammad came around to support the film, appearing at the Los Angeles premiere in June. The only stickler throughout has been
