We're well into this year's trek through South by Southwest '14, and Austin is reeling from the tragic incident on Wednesday night that killed 2 and injured 23. Our hearts and thoughts go out to all those affected as the music that the victims have come to enjoy continues to fill the Texas streets in their memory.
Yahoo Music brought some exciting guests to Yahoo HQ at Brazos Hall today, including some acoustic sessions from the re-united Spandau Ballet and blues rock babies Vintage Trouble, plus more from our on-the-ground reporters Lyndsey Parker, Billy Johnson Jr. and Paul Rosales. Will the ever-lovable and ever-elusive Dave DiMartino join the online conversation? Then again, why break his mystique?

It was truly sublime intervention on the "Arsenio Hall Show" last night when Prince granted one lovelorn audience member a wish: The Purple One dumped the guy's girlfriend for him.
The eccentric music icon was the sole guest on Hall's show Wednesday night, and performed several songs, including a new song entitled "FUNKNROLL" backed up by his New Power Generation and an 11-piece horn section.
But what really shone through was the musician's aptitude for comedy, highlighted by a phone call on behalf of audience member Steven to his long-distance girlfriend Keegan. As Steven explained it, Keegan had started cheating on him with her ex-boyfriend. The couple had their first date at a Prince concert with 3rdEyeGirl, so it was only appropriate that the relationship end with Prince as well.
The show rang up Keegan, and when it came down to breaking the bad news, Prince delivered it in a very special way: with his own lyrics.

Your text game is about to get schooled: Welcome to the next level of smartphone flirting. Beyoncé set everyone on fire with her sexy surfboard antics in her music video for "Drunk In Love" last December. Turns out, the shockingly explicit lyrics made for the perfect fodder for text magician Jesse Hill, who took it to an even more suggestive frontier with his unofficial emoji cover video for the song.
It's a simplistic splice of the various cartoon characters found on the emoji keyboard, but done in a way that can only be described as genius...and oh so flirty.
If there is anything we learned from this video, it's how innovative a person can get with all those seemingly innocent emojis. That surfboard emoji is about to get way more popular. But sorry, Android users: This one is just for the iPhone lotharios out there.
After just one day, the video has garnered more than 269,000 views as of this writing. From the little information we could find online, Hill has directed videos for various companies and bands, and hails from Austin, Texas.

Sexy, nimble, and endlessly appealing, Ricky Martin and Jennifer Lopez got their grind on in Wisin's latest music video "Adrenalina"... and it is really weird.
Separate from his partner-in-crime Yandel (who had his own solo album last fall), Reggaeton star Wisin made a pretty darn good replacement by enlisting two of the biggest names in Latin music. Wisin had worked with both stars on their own songs, so it's only natural they return the favor. But Wisin and the song itself take a backseat to Lopez and Martin's music video antics.
What happens when the male and female epitomes of Latin passion join forces? This:
And whoa, this:
While there's no debate as to how hot the pair are together, it's still strange to see the pair groping each other with such conviction, since it's well known that Martin is gay. But then again, what gay man or (any living, sentient being, for that matter) wouldn't want to get all over J.Lo?

Never afraid of laying down some rhymes, Blondie's Debbie Harry lent her intoxicating purr to some raucous Beastie Boys lyrics at Wednesday night's 2014 NME Awards. Even at 68 years old, she's still the epitome of cool with her signature gaze that can melt (or freeze!) anyone in her path.
The legendary band was awarded NME's "Godlike Genius" award the ceremony in Austin, Texas — a well-deserved title indeed — basially NME's lifetime achievement award. The crowd was treated to juicy set of Blondie's biggest hits, including "One Way or Another," "Call Me," "Heart of Glass," and their old-school hip-hop-infused tune "Rapture," which lead straight into a surprise cover of the Beasties' "(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (to Party!)."

Katy Perry has made a lot of silly music videos in her life. But her latest for "Dark Horse" might just be our favorite. After checking out her stunning wardrobe, adorable guest stars, delicious snacks, and man-zapping abilities, being a modern Egyptian queen might just be our new teenage dream.
There have been plenty of comparisons to Michael Jackson's Egyptian-themed "Remember the Time" music video, right down to this clip's unimpressed queen. But none of the overlapping ideas are that original for either video. Still, we think Perry did Egypt in a way that only Katy can.
Why is this Katy Perry's best music video ever? Let us count the ways:
1. Jiff the Pomeranian! — No, sadly it wasn't the other insanely famous Internet Pomeranian you're thinking of, but Jiff is quickly growing his own million-plus fanbase. The fuzzy piece of doggy magic posted a photo with Ms. Perry on Valentine's Day, so we know it's him.

Ladies, ladies, ladies; Yoshiki has left the building! But not before the international rock star from Japan documented his intimate performance at the GRAMMY Museum exhibit launch party on Wednesday. We handed the well-deserving star the reins to the Yahoo Music instagram and reveled in the awesomeness that is Yoshiki.
Best known for being the pianist and co-founder of one of Japan's most successful heavy metal bands, X Japan, Yoshiki's unique style, poise and talents (not to mention that gorgeous hair!) made him a standout in the generally homogenous genre of classical music. His album Yoshiki Classical fuses classical with his roots in metal, punk and glam, debuting at #1 on the iTunes classical charts of ten countries and in the top 10 of the Billboard classical chart.
This ain't your parents' classical music. Just look at Yoshiki's signature crystal piano!
And a disco ball this massive would never be rolled out for any other classical music star.

There was no competition against the international powerhouse that is One Direction for the Global Success Award at the 2014 Brit Awards. But that didn't guarantee 1D member Harry Styles was on time for their acceptance speech.
You'd think getting an award on live British television from one of the most beautiful women in the world, model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, would be enough to ensure all members were present and accounted for to collect their prize. But when One Direction filed on stage, even Niall Horan's crutches (from major knee surgery in January) couldn't distract from the fact that the group's most popular member was missing.

You might be left with a headache and a heartache after the long weekend bookended by Valentine's Day and President's Day. But a live performance from the most rock 'n' roll pop star out there, Bonnie McKee, is sure to be your cure-all.
The hitmaker behind Katy Perry, Taio Cruz and Britney Spears (just to name a few) stopped by the Yahoo Music studio a while back to lay down some of her sweet, solo sounds for the first-ever performance with her amazing all-girl band. No doubt most of us are in post-Valentine's pining mode mixed in with patriotic party fatigue (P.P.F.) from celebrating our nation's leaders on Monday. And it just so happens McKee's set with us fits the ticket just right with her jams "American Girl" and "I Wanna F-ing Call You."
