  • Ryan Gosling: Backstreet Boy? Almost!

Ryan Gosling and the Backstreet Boys (Photos by L. Cohen/WireImage; Noel Vasquez/Getty Images)Hey girl, Ryan Gosling has revealed in a recent interview for his new 1940s shoot-em-up film Gangster Squad, that he missed his opportunity to become a member of the none other than the Backstreet Boys! It's no secret Gosling was a member of pop star-making machine The Mickey Mouse Club, but we didn't know 'til now just how close Gosling got to being in one of the biggest boy bands in history.

Gosling told Celebuzz, “When we were doing Mickey Mouse Club, we were living in the same place as that guy A.J. from the Backstreet Boys. So he was always talking about the Backstreet Boys… he was saying like how big they were going to be... And we were like, just shoot the ball dude. It’s never gonna happen, yeah right. Didn’t they already do that with the New Kids? You’re a little late. Cut too—I was wrong.”

When asked if Gosling regretted not jumping on the BSB train, he replied, “Can’t live in the past, that ship has sailed.” When prodded if he ever sees the Backstreet Boys, he joked,

  • Shirtless Harry Styles Shows Off Odd Tattoos On Vacation

One Direction singer Harry Styles shows off his tattoos in the Caribbean. [Photo: Splash News]One Direction bad boy Harry Styles is on the fast track to getting inked up like a biker. The UK singer was recently spotted by fans on holiday in the British Virgin Islands with unconfirmed girlfriend Taylor Swift, during which photogs captured the full extent of Styles' strange tattoo collection.

Since turning 18 on February 1 last year, Styles appears to have been going under the needle every chance he could, whether it's his professionally done pirate ship or a wonky padlock done by fellow UK singer Ed Sheeran. But the majority of his tattoos look scrawled on by a buddy, prison-style! Along with his professionally done pirate ship, swallows, bird cage, comedy/tragedy masks and “17 Black”, the singer also showed off hardly perfect tattoos of “Might as well…” on his hip, LA, NY and LON, “Can I cry?”, a coat hanger, a heart, a fish skeleton and other various scribbles, including actual scribble lines on his left arm.

There's a good deal of debate over the meaning of the teen

As the year comes to a close, and the holiday stress puts your therapist on speed dial, why not take a moment from your debilitating rage against the department store cashier to reflect upon the last calendar year of music—we sure have. 2012 has brought us tripped out folk singers, potty-mouthed mermaids, indie super groups and jams hot enough to boil a waterbed, just to name a few.

Kendrick Lamar: Certainly not a new face to the game, but this year marks the beginning of Kendrick Lamar’s journey into the hip-hop stratos as a full-fledged star. Following in the footsteps of other Dre protégés like Eminem and Snoop Dogg , the LA-based artist’s first

  • Whatever Happened To Grammy-Crasher Soy Bomb?

photo: Kevin Mazur/WireImageLet's take a journey back more than a decade ago, to the 40th annual Grammy Awards. The year was 1998, and the legendary Bob Dylan was performing his single "Love Sick," when a man with the words "Soy Bomb" painted on his chest ran out from the back, wildly gesticulating next to the confused musician. Eventually the man was ushered off by security, and the rest was Grammy history. But with the Grammys around the corner, one has wonder: What happened to that guy?

  • Gwen Stefani’s Outfit Travels Back To The 90s, Her Body Doesn’t Have To!

Gwen Stefani performs in Paris in 2012 [Photo: David Wolff-Patrick/WireImage]Quite possibly the hottest mom in music, Gwen Stefani just keeps wowing us with her age-defying looks and awesome sense of style! And as if to prove age don't mean a thing, the No Doubt singer revisited some of her signature 90s styles--and looks even better now than she did almost 20 years ago.

At a private concert in Paris last night, Stefani rocked a belly-flaunting velvet halter top, plaid harem pants and knee-high patent leather combat boots. The ensemble is very similar to the one she wore in No Doubt's 1995 music video for their single "Spiderwebs", but with some twists that only a fashion mogul like Stefani could add.

  • Ladies and gentlemen, the United States of Sound is holding court as judge, jury and executioner of rock. We've got the exclusive on Soundgarden's next single off their first album since 1996's Down on the Upside! Check out our interview with lead man Chris Cornell and drummer Matt Cameron to hear what we can expect from their upcoming album and what they've been up to the past 16 years.

A song for rock purists, "Non-State Actor" shows a tight, refreshed Soundgarden well-evolved from the previous millennium's incarnation, and just heavy enough to satisfy hardcore fans. But it's just a taste of what sonic acquisitions band members have gleaned over the many years since breaking up.

Lyrically, the track couldn't be more timely with the presidential elections coming next week. Cornell sings, "We're not elected / But we will speak / We're not the chosen / But we believe / And we settle for / A little bit more than everything." After 16 years of silence, the band isn't wasting a word,
