  • September Songs: #1 September Hits Through The Years!

The air is crisp. The days are shorter. High schools are jammed with kids dreading the long year while college campuses are abuzz with excitement, proof that life actually does get better -- before it gets irretrievably worse. Some late summer hits hang on, while new songs show up like new clothes for the season.

The following songs were all #1 hits in the month of September. The list is in reverse chronological (Modern Lovers precise) order, beginning with 2011 and working back to 1969. If you don't like these songs, don't yell at me. I didn't vote for them. I just report the facts. Though I do hope you'll find my insights particularly insightful and my salient points, pointy.

  • Rihanna’s Snakeskin Boots: Style-Strangling Or Runway Chic?

[Photo: Gotcha Images/Splash News]Looks like love wasn't the only thing Rihanna found in a hopeless place. While partying in London, the singer flaunted some scaly thigh-high boots that left us gasping for air—and would seriously upset an old friend of Britney Spears!

Paired with a burgundy leather mini-skirt and baggy sweatshirt, the usually fashion-savvy singer's outfit looked cobbled together like she rolled out of bed. Even with the garish pattern aside, the shape of her boots made Rihanna's traffic-stopping legs look like stovepipes! Hopefully Rihanna was hiding the perfect top underneath that lazy day sweatshirt that brought everything together.

Snakeskin in very in for the fall season, we get it. But for such a standout piece like humungous snakeskin boots, Rihanna would've benefited from matching them with very subtle, more refined pieces—give those boots the complements they deserve! Or just go all out crazy with standout everything because we all love a hot mess fashion extremist. Either way, it's better to

  • Mariah Carey’s Bouncing Baby Bliss: Swimsuit Edition!

We dare you to not say, "awww!"

Superstar mama Mariah Carey posted an adorable snap with her and husband Nick Cannon's twin babies Moroccan and Monroe on their site DemBabies.com. Swimming with their Grammy-winning mom, the sixteen-month-old tots look like they're in heaven. I mean, look at that gaze Monroe is giving her mom!

When the twins were born, Carey and Cannon opted out of the usual big tabloid frenzy to debut their newborns, and instead set up a website where people can follow along as their children grow up. And how many kids can say they've had an active Twitter hashtag (#dembabies) since birth!

DemBabies.com shows the music star offspring hanging out during holidays, flying on private jets, driving mini Ferraris and rocking some serious bling in their posh playroom.

Suffice it to say, these babies are baller!

  • Britney Spears’s Scandalous VMAs Snake: Where Is It Now?

As we count down the days to MTV's Video Music Awards, undoubtedly music's craziest and buzziest awards show, we of course think back to some of the VMAs' craziest and buzziest performances. And that means Britney Spears and her tangled tussle with a certain albino Burmese python, of course. The slinky performance, one of the sexiest in VMAs history, outraged PETA, was immortalized in Madame Tussaud's wax museum, and eventually earned the snake its own Tumbler account. And even Britney herself has that snake on the brain these days, as she recently tweeted regarding its whereabouts.  Sadly, it seems like Britney and her reptilian duet partner have lost touch since they graced the VMAs' stage 11 (yes, ELEVEN!) long years ago.

After posting a link to a photo of herself with the pale python, Britney later happily reported back that the snake is alive, and she finally revealed its name--a surprisingly adorable name, actually, for an animal with the potential ability to kill.

    The timing

  • Lady Gaga’s Teasers For New ‘Fame’ Fragrance Puts The ‘Gag’ In Gaga

Lady Gaga has released two netherworld-chic teaser clips for her debut fragrance "Fame" that has us a little gag-happy. After tweeting the creepy, nude promotional image for "Fame" last month, the clips elaborate on the theme of her playing the nefarious ruler of the land along with the fleshy land itself. Straddling the borders of art couture and just plain weirdness? Yep, just how Gaga likes it.

The first clip has Gaga stroking the caviar-smeared face (gag) of a male model, and sitting back with her own neck ruff of canned peaches, more caviar and jewels (double gag). The combo makes for an interesting Freudian snack and hopefully isn't a reflection on how her perfume smells. Then drama: Thunder crashes and a sweeping shot of Gaga's nude body from the promotional ad painted in gold with those bank vault wheel handles barely covering her.

Don't get me wrong, the art direction is fantastic, Gaga look great as always and I personally wouldn't be interested in a fragrance that

  • Game Of Vogues: Grimes’ “Genesis” Video

Albino boa constrictor? Check. Armory of medieval weapons? Check. Roving gang of rave royale miscreants? Check and check. Ethereal pop ingenue Grimes dropped her latest video for her hypnotic track "Genesis" today to the fanfare of of many, and the utter confusion of others. The lispy artist has been exponentially gaining traction this summer, selling out shows in minutes, drawing shoving crowds wherever she goes, and is on the tips of every Best of 2012 writer's tongue at the moment.

  • Bloc Party Las Vegas Show Almost Usurped By Rare Occurrence

Bloc Party's Kele Okereke feeling itIn a stifling 100+ degree heat at night, close quarters with hundreds of tipsy, impatient concert goers at an outdoor show may not sound like the best idea. But when there are three pools next to the stage and an incredibly rare natural event cooling your down (not to mention alcoholic ice cream bars), it sure beats yet-another huddled indie venue show.

UK rockers Bloc Party and singer Santigold were on the bill for last Saturday's Samsung-supported concert series at the endlessly chic Cosmopolitan Hotel's BLVD Pool in Las Vegas. But the show was pushed over two hours later than it's scheduled start time because the usually flesh-searing desert heat decided to take a break (kinda) for a unusual turn of weather—rain!

  • What could be more flattering than a pop icon covering your song and shooting a video for it? Moody songstress Lana Del Rey just received the honor with Boy George covering her breakout single, "Video Games."

Shot in a quintessential English gloom, the video is "a story of young love in bleak Britain." A punky, long-distance couple spend a day being all-too adorable together on an empty the beach and a deserted amusement park pier--points if you know which one. The meticulously done-up girl looks like the lovechild of Boy George and The Gossip's Beth Ditto and the boy is (in my opinion) far more swoon-worthy than Del Rey's preferred "Blue Jeans" and "Born to Die" love interest. They ride rides, they scale shipwrecks, they live, they love, and they ultimately say goodbye.

Boy George's cover of the song turns Lana Del Rey's curled lip purr into a melancholic sigh, cutting the church bells and harps for a good ol' acoustic guitar. In some ways, Boy George's version is more relevant to
