Back in the olden times, when many of your grandparents were looking for musical entertainment, they'd turn on the radio, which was a box that was somehow connected to a person playing "records." These records were large platters - actual physical objects! - that spun around and emitted music through a process no one really understands any more. The only way you could hear the song again was to either own the platter yourself, as well as the spinning machine, or wait until the radio box emitted it again.

It was quite a primitive system! No wonder they got us into Vietnam!

Anyway, the aborigines of those times, living in a world with no internet - and, almost incomprehensively worse, no Framed! - still had their stars. And one of them was this week's guest, Del Shannon. Del grew up in a small town in Michigan and released his first (and only) #1 song early in 1961, a song called "Runaway." And, excitingly, this week we welcome back one of our favorite artists, the inimitable Pink, and her video, "F***in' Perfect." It's f***in' good!

As everyone knows, Pink is a champion of human rights, and, in this week's vid, she champions the rights of girls everywhere. We follow the life of one young woman who develops a poor self-image, with potentially tragic results... although, in the end, it all turns out well. Because of Pink!

Let's talk about the Kings of Leon's name. Is that a weird name for a band, or what? Since they're our guest artists this week, we decided to bring you readers the real story behind this mystery. Here's what we found:

1. The Kings of Leon consist of three brothers and a cousin, and the brothers' grandfather and father were both named Leon.

2. The Kingdom of León was a Christian kingdom in what is now part of Spain and Portugal. It existed from 910 A.D. till 1301 A.D., and there's a city called León in present-day Spain.

3. "Their name is thought to be both historical and blasphemous as a reversal of the king of Noel," according to a Christian website called the Apostolic Friends Forum.

So, to sum it up, we don't know why they're called the Kings of Leon. But we can all agree it's an amazingly stupid name. And, hopefully, blasphemous.

Coming out of L.A., like absolutely everything that's good in our country, the eclectic Peas have sold over 47 million records and won six Grammys. They once performed in front of over a million people at a concert in Brazil, and they're slated to perform at halftime in this year's Ravens-Bears Super Bowl game.
