  • Kenny Chesney, Framed

Well, it's almost time for the most American season--football season--to start up again, and we were pleased to discover that Kenny Chesney's new video, "The Boys Of Fall," is all about football. On all levels from high school to pro! God bless you, country music superstar Kenny Chesney!

The video is chock full of the rah-rah that surrounds the sport, as coaches give stirring and emotional speeches to prep players, collegians strive for glory, and pros grind out that extra yard. It may, in fact, be the most all-American music video ever made, with the exception of that James Brown/"Rocky" video we featured a year or two ago. And we've learned from Y! Music blogger Wendy Geller that it's all part of an ESPN documentary.

Kenny has received numerous honors--none higher, of course, than being featured in Framed once before--and we're glad to have him back. As always, we invite you to comment, post alternate captions, and, in general, make a good impression on your peers.

  • Beach Boys, Framed

Hello, readers! Welcome to this, the 900th Framed ever written! What a milestone!

To help us celebrate, we called our good friend Mike Love of the Beach Boys, the amazingly talented Southern Californian rock group who've scored dozens of hits over the years.

"Mike," we said. "Help us out here. We've become the talk of the internet and need to bring in some heavy duty talent for our important 900th blog. What can you, as the leader of America's greatest rock band, do to help us?"

"Framed, I'm glad you called!" Mike enthused. (Mike is impossibly generous and talented, as a simple web search will attest. "Like all people, I read you every week and marvel at your insight, your wit, and--can I be candid?--your humanity. Your cheerfulness in carrying all the Y! Music blogs, week in, week out...doing all the heavy lifting...well, it's an inspiration is what it is."

"You are too kind, our friend."

"Here's what I see," he continued. "I see captions to the greatest Beach Boys song of them all. I

  • Tom Jones, Framed

Hello, readers, and welcome back to Framed, the blog that does just about everything right. This week, we're bringing you the very talented Mr. Tom Jones, the Welsh pop singer who's been with us since the 1960s. Tom's had a slew of hits, including "It's Not Unusual," "What's New Pussycat?," "Green, Green Grass Of Home," and "Delilah." This week's video is Tom's take on "Mama Told Me Not To Come," the kind-of humorous Randy Newman song that was a monster hit for Three Dog Night.

Tom, as everyone knows, is a veritable sex machine, and women often impale themselves on massive spikes if denied his charms. Even now, at the age of 70, he exudes pheromones that science had previously declared unexudable.

We have great hopes that you'll enjoy this week's video and this week's captions, which are--as always!--simply given to you. Because they pay us! Be back here next week for even more in the way of video caption fun, as we feature a legendary band! Sort of!

    Important blog note! We thought

  • Moby, Framed

Everyone knows that war sucks and is, in general, a bad thing. Feeling pretty sure that most readers will agree with us on this, we're featuring Moby's "Make Love, F*ck War" video this week.

Moby's an electronic artist who wears his heart on his sleeve.  He's an avowed vegan and a self-described libertarian who's also an enthusiastic believer in music therapy. He got his stage name by being a distant relative of Herman Melville, who wrote Moby Dick, and the less jokes we make about that, the better. He also makes lots of music videos! Lots! We had no idea what we getting into when we decided to spend five minutes looking into his canon and ended up in a daze about an hour later.

    Moby's weird!

In any case, it turns out that he--like us!--thinks war is bad. So much so that he wrote a song called "Make Love, F*ck War," only he didn't use the asterisk. And he also made a video for it, which brings us to this week's Framed. Not only do we have Moby, we also have Public Enemy, who

  • Kenny Rogers, Framed

Hi-ho, readers, and welcome to Framed, the only blog that tells you the truth and makes stuff up!  At literally the same time!

We are an embarrassment of riches, or--at the very least--an embarrassment.

Every now and again, we like to introduce ourselves to new readers, so, if you're a regular, go get a drink or something.  We'll do this in a friendly Q-and-A format to make it as painless as possible.

    Q: What is Framed?

A: Framed is a weekly blog that appears in Y! Music. Every week we feature a different music video. We "freeze" a dozen pictures from the video and post them.

Q: But is there a twist?

A: Yes. Yes, there is. We write our own captions to the still pictures.

Q: And are these captions funny?

A: Oh, they're plenty funny. Comedic gold, one might say.

Q: But, at the same time, will they make me think?

A: Indeed they will. We stuff an unprecedented amount of social commentary into our captions. And that's not just us saying it, that's The Journal of Unprecedented Amounts of

  • Sheryl Crow, Framed

Summer is totally here, readers, so we decided it would be a good idea to bring in Sheryl Crow, the well-known "Soak Up The Sun" songstress, with her brand-new video, "Summer Day." It's the first single from her new album, 100 Miles From Memphis, due out this week.

Crow, a former music teacher and back-up singer for many, including Michael Jackson, hit it big as a solo artist in 1994, when "All I Wanna Do" topped the charts. She's gone on to have a very credible career--all of her albums have hit the Top Ten in the U.S.

"'Summer Day' is a delightfully breezy slice of glory-days AM radio pop," Wikipedia tells us, and we tend to agree. In the video, the singer and her band perform the song in a park as little kids dance and folks ride bikes, fish, and, in general, have good, old-fashioned American summer fun. We hope you enjoy it, as well as our captions, and hope to see you back here again next week.

Important blog note!  Readers continue to do the heavy lifting around here with some

  • Def Leppard, Framed

Normally, we use this space to introduce this week's video and give our readers a bit of background info. We'll skip that this week--it's a Def Leppard song called "Animal," by the way--and, instead, engage you on a variety of other topics.

Did you read Lyndsey Parker's piece on how the "American Idol" tour is canceling dates? Boy, that's troubling! What the heck is happening to music, anyway?

Speaking of Lindsays, we see that Lindsay Lohan, recently featured in Framed, was sentenced to 90 days in jail for breaking the terms of her probation! Boy, that's troubling! Where the heck is Wall Girl when you need her?

And, hey! Mathematicians have found solutions to a 140-year-old, 7-dimensional equation! Is it just us, or were those mathematicians really taking their time about the whole thing?

Finally, what do you think about Prince declaring the internet to be "over"? Wow! Can it be true? And, if so, what is this blog being posted on? What the heck's going on here?

    OK, let's do captions!

  • Travie McCoy, Framed

We admit that, sometimes, we want to be a billionaire so freaking bad. How about you, readers? Is this something that interests you?

If so, you have something in common with this week's featured star, Travie McCoy. Last month, he released the first single off of his debut solo LP, Lazarus, and it was titled "Billionaire." It's about his wish to be in a whole new tax bracket, play basketball with the President, and hang out with Oprah. And who among us would deny Travie his dream?

Not us, that's for sure. The last time we looked, the song was #4 in Billboard's Top 100, so Travie's on his way. The publicity of being in Framed, of course, will only add fuel to his unstoppable momentum...and, hey, we're glad to help out, Travie.

He's joined in both the song and the video by singer-songwriter Bruno Mars, and we have to admit that it's a pretty mellow tune. Please enjoy everything about this week's blog, and we cordially invite you back for next week, when Framed continues to amaze and

  • If this is June, it must be time to have Justin Bieber back in Framed. He hasn't been our featured star since late April, for God's sake. Please accept our deepest apologies, and please don't sign that online petition to have our blogging license revoked.

Justin is the teenaged superstar whose latest LP, My World 2.0, has stood civilization on its ear. The album has been in the top five since its release, and Y! Music charts expert Paul Grein reports that its big single, "Baby," has topped  two million downloads. But did Justin slow down and build a world-class koi pond, as, say, a lazy blogger with his bucks might?

No! Instead, he's recorded yet another great song, this one the theme for the cinematic blockbuster, The Karate Kid, which stars Jaden Smith as Ralph Macchio.  Justin and Jaden combine to deliver "Never Say Never," an astonishingly uplifting song about something or another. Justin sings. Jaden raps. We quite like it!

Please let us know if you like it, too. We'll be back

  • Kylie Minogue, Framed

Hi, readers and thanks for coming by!  This week's guest artist is the very beautiful Kylie Minogue, a hot babe from Australia.  (Full disclosure:  Australia is our "favourite" country in the Southern Hemisphere.)  So cutting-edge is Framed that our video, "All The Lovers," won't even be released as a song for another couple of weeks, but we've got the video right now.  Damn, we're good!

Kylie is a star in the United States, but she's huge in the U.K. and other European countries.  She's already had nine Top 10 albums in Great Britain alone.  This week's video was shot in Los Angeles last month, and presents some sort of flash mob/free love party.  Everyone's pretty much in their underwear and it looks like anything goes!  Or, in other words, yee-hah!

We've sub-titled this week's Framed "Democracy & Drillin': A Modern Fable."  You're sure to enjoy the video and our captions, which are, as always, your best source of timely information.  Please post your thanks often and then be back
