  • Hinder, Framed

We're big fans of the hard rock band Hinder here at Framed - in fact, they were the fourth band ever featured in our blog. So it's with considerable excitement that we welcome them back for another go-round, this time featuring their great song, "What Ya Gonna Do," off last year's All American Nightmare album.

Hinder has proven to be a durable addition to the rock pantheon. All three of their albums have charted in the Top 10 in the U.S. Except the last one, we mean (All American Nightmare), which didn't do as well, probably 'cause we forgot to promote it.

  • Elton John, Framed

Every now and again we like to bring a bona fide, big time megastar into this space, and this week, we're very happy to be featuring Mr. Sir Elton John, the British artist who's sold more records than everybody else in history.

    Combined!

  • Common, Framed

Everyone knows that, as the world's most important blog, Framed has a hard and fast policy of staying away from partisan politics. It would just be too easy for our persuasive, well-reasoned voice to upset the applecart of democracy, so we try to keep above the political fray.

In the past few weeks, though, we've been surprised that the hip-hop artist Common has been at the center of a sociopolitical controversy of some importance. It seems he was invited to a poetry reading at the White House by Michelle Obama, which enraged some of our most important deep-thinkers. It was all about Common's belief that Assata Shakur, who was convicted of killing a police officer in 1977, was falsely accused. Common has also criticized former President George W. Bush about some war or another.

  • Notorious MSG, Framed

What's the best thing about Framed? Is it our "overuse" of certain "punctuation?"

    No!

It's that we always have our hand on the "pulse" of the "biz!" And are thus able to bring our readers, wonderful people all, fresh and exciting talent from all over the place.

Remember when we "broke" Justin Bieber? Those were the days! Well, this week, we're showcasing Notorious MSG, a group of Asian-American rappers from (where else?) Chinatown in NYC, who sing with great gusto about Asian food and gangsta-ism, both issues critically important to the "scene."

  • The Weepies, Framed

Holy smokes! This is the 193rd Framed ever written. This means that, in less than two months, we'll be writing the sure-to-be-legendary 200th Framed of all time! Can even we stand up to the pressure?

Probably. Anyway, this week we have the Weepies. Who are they?, you ask. To explain, let's steal some content from Wikipedia and, for once, actually admit it. The Weepies are an indie pop-folk band fronted by singer-songwriters Deb Talan and Steve Tannen. Their music has been described as "subtly intoxicating folk-pop."

  • Poison, Framed

Before we get to this week's video, which is quite good, we'd like to take a minute to accept the abject thanks of thousands of our fellow citizens.

Regular readers know that we've been demanding, via our captions, to "see the birth certificate" for some time now. In fact, no less than two of our captions a couple weeks ago made a direct reference to this most critical of issues.

  • Pet Shop Boys, Framed

We welcome everyone to Framed, the blog thrice voted America's greatest humor/music video resource by the people who do that sort of thing. As our regular readers know, we live to serve.

This week we have Pet Shop Boys, the dynamic British dance music duo who've sold over 100 million records in their long, storied career. Our video is "Together," a 2010 tune written to promote their greatest hits package, Ultimate. Interestingly, the video - which was shot in the former Soviet republic of Estonia - brings a dance troupe (girls) together with a bunch of working stiffs (guys.) The result? A hellacious dance-off and a complete easing of class tensions! Hooray!

  • Sick Puppies, Framed

A funny thing happened to us on the way to this week's blog, readers. We couldn't find any videos we liked and, at the last minute, defaulted to this week's vid by Sick Puppies. And right after Robert sent it over, we said to ourselves, "Hey, wait a minute. Weren't these guys in Framed, like, a few weeks ago?"

And they were! Well, a few months is more like it--they were our guests in early November. But you get what we're saying... we'd totally forgotten about them. We were like, "What an odd name, Sick Puppies." So, as a consequence, we've decided that we can no longer be responsible for what we do here. Between all these captions and Michelob Ultras and whatnot--well, you figure it out. Frankly, we're starting to lose it. All these videos are becoming a hodgepodge. Time itself is now an elusive thing. Is it baseball season yet?

  • So there we were, trying to decide on this week's video, when the phone rang.

"Hello," we said. "This is Framed, 'The blog that has no catchphrase.'"

"Framed!" said the voice on the line. "Jesus, I'm glad I didn't get Robert again. Who is that guy?"

"Who is this? Is that you, Bob-O?"

    "Hey, hey, it's Justin!"

"Justin?" Oh, Jesus. "Bieber, is that you?"

"Yeah! Dude! You don't sound very happy to hear from me."

  • Willie Nelson, Framed

It's certainly about time we saw Willie Nelson here in Framed. Willie's a national treasure, an original outlaw who's released 65 studio albums, seven live albums, 15 compilations, 97 singles and three soundtracks over the last 50 years. And he just keeps on going.

Our video this week is just a small slice of that massive output. "I'm A Worried Man," a song written by Johnny Cash, is from 2005's Countryman LP, Willie's first-ever reggae album. It was filmed in Jamaica, and Willie collaborated with reggae legend Toots Hibbert on the song and video, which tell the compelling story of a man simply trying to feed his family.
