Framed

Austin Mahone, Framed

Son of a gun. This was our week to feature... try to guess here now ... Justin Bieber. Instead, orders came down from on high: queue up Austin Mahone.

Wow, what a twist, we thought! Isn't Austin Mahone the new Justin Bieber? The younger and, thus, more exciting Justin Bieber?

We looked it up and, yes, it's true. He is. We don't understand the vagaries of the music biz, or much of anything else, now that we think of it, but we do know that Austin is one unstoppable up-and-comin' star.

So, heck, welcome to Framed, young man.

Austin's a 16-year-old phenom from Texas who -- like the aged Mr. Bieber -- gained his fame through his songs/videos going viral on the internet. This week's video, "Say Somethin'" -- see, he drops his g's, just like we do! -- is his second single, and also a premiere vid on Vevo.

It's a catchy number you're sure to like. Even better, Austin's agreed to actually narrate the captions himself. Usually, this only works with washed-up has-beens, so we're kind of happy with the way the whole thing's turned out.

See you next week!

1 -- "Hi, readers! Framed's asked me to take you on a tour of my high school! This may end up as the best blog in the history of ever!"

2 -- "School's a lot of work! Here I am solving the Quadratic Equation! But, whether it's choreography with real dancers or univariate polynomials, I rock it!"

3 -- "Coach Thorpe throws the medicine ball at weird and awkward times! Chill out already, coach!"

4 -- "What's that, Magic Eight Ball?' Bigger than Bieber? And soon?"

5 -- "Those of us who'd been home-schooled knew the right answer! 5,000 years old!"

6 -- "I salute all of our hard-working teachers. Heck, I blame the parents!"

7 -- "Oh, there's time to socialize, too! Hey, Chris, did you know that charter schools can act as laboratories of reform? Look it up!"

8 -- "Sometimes you simply bump into people at school. For me, it's always with impossibly hot chicks! Is this your experience, too?"

9 -- "Read it? Damn, sometimes I narrate Framed! I'm just sayin'!"

10 -- "And, yeah, we still pass notes, just like you used to! That day, all the kids were talkin' 'bout the Gross Domestic Product!"

11 -- "School spirit is important! Shorten those skirts, girls!"

12 -- "I am being serious, babe. I bought the bleeping school! What, you don't want all A's?"
