There's one high-rolling hotel suite that certainly no rock star would ever dare trash: the only exclusive, private Hello Kitty hotel suite in the U.S., at the posh Maison 140 hotel in Beverly Hills. The sweet suite, appointed with HK-branded Sephora beauty products, Japanese candy, and copious red bows, is a true girly paradise...but even A.F.I. rocker (and avowed Sanrio fanatic) Davey Havok couldn't resist snuggling among the room's fluffy pillows, and putting on some guyliner at the Kitty vanity table, when he paid a visit to the invite-only suite earlier this month.
"I remember when [Sanrio penguin] Tuxedo Sam was released," Davey reminisced. "I was at my cousin's house in Larchmont. 'Lucky Star' was on MTV. Hello Kitty covered their room. I was enamored of Madonna and the cloud-headed cat. Sanrio has been with me ever since. I was upset for days after my pink, Louis Vuitton Hello Kitty-inspired roller case gave up its wheel after years of strenuous touring. When I walked into the Maison suite, it felt like coming home. I'd always wanted to sleep with Hello Kitty. I finally had my chance."
Once I learned of this Kitty paradise, which seemed even cooler than Davey's cousin's pretty-in-pink hangout, I was determined to sleep with Hello Kitty too, so to speak. In a true Christmas miracle, I managed to score a reservation for Christmas Day (Christmas with Kitty = BEST. CHRISTMAS. EVER!), and honestly, I can't imagine there was any child on Christmas morning who was more excited than I was when I stepped into this Hello Kitty haven. I felt like a total rock star, or maybe a J-Pop star; from the cat-shaped designer water bottles to the Kitty cocktails to the scarlet boudoir, no Kitty amenity was overlooked. I imagined this is how Katy Perry, and of course Davey Havok, actually live when they're on the road.
Living the Kitty lifeMaison 140's Hello Kitty Beauty Package, which is a joint promotion with the Sephora Hello Kitty Noir Beauty Collection, only runs during the month of December. And my suggestion for 2012? That Sephora expand its Hello Kitty line into kitchen products, and create a hotel Kit-chenette that looks just like this:
