Hip-hop's most famous hype man, Flavor Flav, knows the value of time.

The reality star, author, and member of 2013 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Public Enemy has been wearing a dinner-plate-sized clock around his neck since 1987.

The comical artist, whose birth name is William Drayton Jr., made the timepiece one of music's funniest fashion statements. But there's actually a deeper meaning behind it.

Flavor Flav, who gave clocks to the top candidates during the three seasons of his dating show, "Flavor of Love," explained the origins of his unusual necklace during a 1994 MTV interview: "Before I started out wearing these clocks, we started off with little stopwatches, and one day I just wanted to do something out of the ordinary," he said during an interview with the cable channel.

Even though some of the biggest names in hip-hop support same-sex marriage, Snoop Dogg doesn’t think the genre would accept a gay rapper.

“’[I]n the rap world I don’t know if it will ever be acceptable because rap is so masculine,” Snoop says in an interview with The Guardian. “It’s like a football team. You can’t be in a locker room full of mother—king tough-ass dudes, then all of a sudden say, ‘Hey, man, I like you.’ You know, that’s going to be tough.”

Few seem to be buying Rick Ross’s apology for rhyming about slipping a molly in a woman’s drink and having sex with her.

The Miami rapper has made two public apologies in the last week for the rhyme featured on Rocko’s mixtape song “U.O.E.N.O.”

Protestors of the song staged a demonstration in New York Thursday. According to a spokesperson for the woman’s group, UltraVilolet, more than 100 people gathered in front of a flagship Reebok store to complain about the athletic company’s endorsement of the hip-hop artist.
