The murder retrialfor rapper Corey "C-Murder"Miller began Wednesday in New Orleans.
GeorgeThomas, the father of the victim Steve Thomas, 16, took the stand Monday,describing his late son as a fan who had posters of C-Murder on his bedroomwall.
C-Murder is accused of fatally shooting Thomas outside of a now-closednight spot, Platinum Club.
While on the stand, Thomas' father remembered receiving the1 a.m. call that his son had been shot, reported The Times Picayune. Thomasadded that when he arrived to West Jefferson Medical Center he was not able tosee his son who had already died.
Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Deputy Bryan Singleton said onstand that C-Murder was not mentioned in his report on the incident. Thesuspect was referred to simply as a black male.
A forensic pathologist explained that the cause of death wasa gunshot wound to the chest.
C-Murder's defense attorney Ron Rakosky said, "Corey Millerdid not kill Steve Thomas." He added that police did not follow up on othermurder
