Beyoncé has ended her business relationship with her father,Matthew Knowles, spokespersons for both parties confirmed Monday.
I know Destiny Childers Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williamsare glad they made their departures beforehand. I wonder if Beyoncé gave them aheads up that she would be exiting.
Knowles, who has managed his daughter throughout her career, said he and Beyoncé were in agreement. "The decision for Beyoncé and MusicWorld Entertainment to part was mutual," he said in a statement.
If I were Mr. Knowles, I would issue the same response.
Beyoncé conveyed her respect for her father. "I am gratefulfor everything he has taught me," said in a statement released to TheAssociated Press. "I grew up watching both he and my mother manage and owntheir own businesses. They were hardworking entrepreneurs and I will continueto follow in their footsteps."
Knowles nor Beyoncé has discussed the motivation forsevering their business ties. Additionally, Beyoncé has not revealed her newmanager.
Knowles said his daughter is in the process of selecting hernew manager. "Beyoncé has the knowledge and experience to make that decisionand no final decision has been made yet," he told Us magazine.
Considering Beyoncé's husband Forbes favorite Shawn "Jay-Z"Carter has been steadily building his Roc-Nation empire, recently recruitingRihanna into the fold, I would not be surprised if the Carter household joinedforces.
Knowles helped Beyoncé become one of the biggest names inpop music, as a member of Destiny's Child, solo artist, movie star, Cover Girl, fashion designer, and perfume mogul.
Now, Knowles will focus his energies on his other artists. His Music World Entertainment has divisions devoted to gospel, country, andkid-centric music. Music World Gospel boasts a roster of talented, respectedand popular acts Trin-i-tee 5:7, Juanita Bynum, Brian Courtney Wilson, andVanessa Bell Armstrong. Knowles's country artist, Anna Wilson, has written forLady Antebellum, and her new album features L.A. and Keith Urban.
Knowles will continue to work with Sony with Destiny's Childand UKfemale group From Above, including management.
