Britney Spears Makes Hip Hop Remix With will.i.am, Diddy, Lil Wayne And Waka Flocka

Over the years, Britney Spears has recorded with hip-hop heavyweights R. Kelly, Pharrell, Snoop Dogg and T-Pain, but she’s never had a bonafide-hip-hop approved club banner.

This is about to change with the release of the remix of her will.i.am collab “Scream & Shout” from the Black Eyed Peas frontman’s forthcoming solo album #willpower.

will.i.am and Spears have called in favors from Lil Wayne, Diddy, Waka Flocka and Hit Boy, who guest on this ferocious, mixtape-ready track that will make Nicki Minaj regret wasting her time on watered-down Autotune pop songs like “Starships” and Beyoncé work harder to find an envelope-pushing, ratchet hood anthem for her next album.

Spears completely transforms her vocals from her usual airy, nasal and whiny purrs to that of a robotic, urban seductress possibly inspired by Madonna’s formula of reinventing herself. Though Spears only appears on the chorus, her husky repetitive “see the boys in the club, they watchin’ us, they watchin’ us” chant more than holds its weight on the song.

Spears is complimented by what is destined to be one of 2013’s best beats, one that percolates with Colecovision sound effects, hand claps, marching band horns, and a bass drum-driven bounce groove.

Each of the guest rappers fights for the prize with Hunger Game competitive intensity. Diddy provides more explicit mixtape narrative than Funkmaster Flex, dubbing this version a “super black man remix.”
