ChrisBrown has moved on from dwelling on the aftermath of his February 8felonious attack on Rihanna.Tuesday, he released "I Can Transform Ya" featuring Lil' Wayne and Swizz Beatz as the firstsingle from his new album, "Graffiti," due out on December 15.
I'm not going to pretend like I get the concept behind thecaricature artwork of Chris wearing a space helmet and powder blue bow tie likethe one he wore on his Larry King interview. There must be a tie-in with the Mechanical Dummy moniker he hasadopted for a blog site and Twitter page.
But the news of this song has prompted the first update onhis website ChrisBrownWorld.comsince a January 9 announcement that he won two People's Choice Awards.
Not much else that has happened since has been appropriatefor Chris' site's News + Blog section. This is the destination for die-hardfans looking for PR-approved fluff items.
The past seven months have been intense for the 20-year-oldpop superstar. Since the incident, Chris has been scrutinized daily in themedia, sentenced, interviewed by Larry King, and televised raking up weeds as apart of his community labor.
There is really only one thing he can do to rebound fromthis image damaging scandal-get back to work.
The release of "I Can Transform Ya" signals that the formersqueaky-clean artist is pulling the plug on the Chris Brown and Rihanna circusact.
As a fan of Chris' music, I have to give it to him. "I CanTransform Ya" has all the appeal of a sticky, braggadocio hit, and Lil' Wayneand Swizz Beatz add to the package.
Produced by Swizz Beatz, the futuristic and simplistic trackboats Rock Band-ready electric guitar rifts, old school hip-hop beat patterns, and the guys' promises to transform a "good girl to a freak."
Based on the unconditional support Chris has received frommany of his female fans throughout the ordeal, this song will be well received.
So far, most of the responses I've read on Twitter arefavorable. LOVE_RY tweeted, "THAT'S A CUTE SONG." prettyboyd17 saidthe song was "(Poppin)." shawdiie1wrote, "luuv da song."
We can all guarantee that the videofor this song will be among his best.
Chris Brown is expected to performthe song at the Power 105.1 Powerhouseconcert on October 27 at the Izod Center in EastRutherford, New Jersey. Chris is headlining the event also featuring Keri Hilson, Fabolous, Trey Songz, and Ginuwine.
Aside from the loss of endorsementdeals from family-friendly corporate sponsors, it looks like Chris' return isgoing to go smoothly.
Chris will also appear in the heistflick "Takers"that is scheduled for a February 2010 release. Heis a co-producer of the movie that also stars Matt Dillon, Idris Elba, and T.I.
