Kanye West Blames Kim Kardashian And Kilt For Drop On MTV’s Hottest MCs VIII List

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian (Reuters)Kanye West believes his choices in fashion and women affected his position on MTV’s Hottest MCs VIII list where he ranks No. 7.

During an interview with DJ Enuff on “The Angie Martinez Show” on Hot 97 Tuesday, Kanye complained about placing on the lower end of the top 10 list.

“They don’t like Givenchy-Kanye,” he said. “They don’t like Kanye in a kilt. They don’t like Kanye in a relationship.”

Kanye, who placed in the top 5 in previous Hottest MCs lists, explained why he believed the panel gave his previous works better ratings.

“What happens with these type of judges and people who are viewers, when you come in, I had the pink polo and the backpack, then I’m checking all the boxes for that Tribe Called Quest-era and J Dilla and all that, so they champion it.”

Kanye argued that he had plenty of solid works from 2013 that warranted acclaim.

Cruel Summer got ‘Don’t Like (Remix), ‘Mercy,’ ‘Cold,’ New Gold Flow,’ all on one joint. … And ‘Clique.’ You can’t name 5 records like that on no album, but they wanted to diss me,” he said.

Kanye added that his slam on Kim Kardashian’s estranged husband Kris Humphries on the song “Cold,” alone, deserved props. “I said, ‘Lucky I didn’t have Jay drop him from the team,’” he said, rapping about Humphries playing for The Brooklyn Nets, a team co-owned by Kanye’s Watch The Throne partner Jay Z. “Ain’t no bar in entire past 12 months was hotter than that bar.”

Though the Hottest MCs list angered Kanye, he did not argue that he should have secured the top slot. He believes that spot belongs to another rapper.

“I think Wayne is #1 rapper in the world,” he said. “Him and Jay and Em are just the greatest rappers of all time.”
