LL Cool J Reportedly Breaks Nose And Jaw Of Burglar

Most celebrities need bodyguards to protect them. Not buff, 44-year-old rapper and actor LL Cool J.

LL Cool J, whose real name is James Todd Smith, confronted an intruder who broke into his home in Studio City, California just before 1 a.m. Wednesday morning, a spokesperson for the Van Nuys Community Police Station confirmed to Yahoo! Music.

One of the rap star's daughters called 911 as her father held the assailant until police arrived. LL Cool J on set of 'NCIS'According to the Los Angeles Times, the "Mama Said Knock You Out" rapper and the suspect engaged in a "knock-down, drag-on fight" that left the attacker with a broken nose and jaw.

The spokesperson said he could not confirm to Yahoo! Music any information regarding injuries due to privacy provisions of the Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act (HIPAA), but did acknowledge that the suspect has been arrested and charged with burglary.

According to the officer, nothing was stolen from the home in which Smith resides with his wife, Simone, and children, Najee, Italia, Samaria and Nina.

A representative for LL Cool J told omg! that the rapper was OK. "LL Cool J and his family are safe and thank everyone for their thoughts and concern. As a father, husband, and citizen, he is committed to keeping his family safe and is cooperating with authorities on this private matter."

In addition to being a tough guy rapper, LL Cool J portrays a special agent on the NCIS police drama series.
