Meek Mill Is The Star Of Mariah Carey’s ‘Triumphant’ Video

I don't believe Mariah Carey's new single "Triumphant" is really her song. Fast-rising MC Meek Mill has the best positioning on the track and video.

Mariah Carey

Meek gets the opening verse, delivers the song's most infectious ad-lib ('they told me to get 'em, I got 'em), and is the star of the boxing-themed clip.

Mariah Carey and Rick Ross come off like featured artists. As Mill rhymes and trades punches in the ring, Rick and Mariah ease on down the aisle like the event promoter and his lady. Mariah even sings the chorus as a boxing ring card girl.

Rick Ross

This song really feels like a set up track for Mill's debut album. No lie. Tuesday, Warner Bros. sent out a press release announcing that Mill's Dreams & Nightmares will be released on October 30.

Otherwise, the storyline works well with the lyrics that celebrate overcoming obstacles. Plus, Mama Mariah is looking good in her various skin-tight gowns, arguably better than she looked before she and husband Nick Cannon welcomed home their twins last year.

I don't see a No. 1 chart position in future for "Triumphant," but it's a sweet song with a good message.
