Ne-Yo Makes Music Video For Disney’s 1st African-American Princess

Ne-Yo is used to writing songs for princesses, at leastthose in the world of popular music. He has penned hits for Beyonce, Rihanna,Celine, and Whitney. But now he adds to his repertoire, a credit for ananimated princess.

Ne-Yo's new song "Never Knew I Needed" is the lead single fromthe soundtrack for the Walt Disney Pictures film "The Princess AndThe Frog" which opens in theatres on December 11.

Walt Disney Pictures has produced two versions of the musicvideo. The regular edit which does not include footage from the movie wasreleased in early November. A 60-second, alternate cut spliced with clips from the filmlater premiered on the Disney network.

"The Princess And The Frog" tells the story of Tianna,Disney's firstAfrican-American princess. Tianna lives in New Orleans in the 1920s, and is a waitresswho aspires to follow in her father's footsteps and eventually own arestaurant. Tianna kisses a frog and turns into a toad, and begins her quest tofind a cure.

Tianna's voice is provided by Anika Noni Rose, the Tony Awardwinning actress who co-starred in "Dreamgirls" alongside Beyonce and JenniferHudson.

In addition to Ne-Yo's "Never Knew I Needed," the soundtrackalso includes songs from Anika Noni Rose and other cast members Keith David andJenifer Lewis among others.
