RZA Talks Quentin Tarantino’s Help With “The Man With The Iron Fists”

RZA, who directed the new action film "The Man With The Iron Fists," credits Quentin Tarantino with helping him hone his movie chops.

"He's my mentor, taught me how to become this filmmaker that I am," RZA told Yahoo!'s The Yo! Show. "Eli Roth is like a classmate of mine. We both came together with a screenplay. We went to him and he Godfathered it and gave it his blessing. After we already had it green lit, he actually came on board and she he would present this film to the world."

RZA added that he was happy to score Russell Crowe and Lucy Liu in lead roles. Regarding the "A Beautiful Mind" actor, RZA said, "I feel like I gave him a role to play that allowed him to go crazy. … And you never see him do this kinda stuff."

RZA said Liu embraced her character. "She asked to fight," he said. "Lucy was excellent. She didn't have [any] time to train."

"The Man With The Iron Fists" opens in theaters on Friday.
