Tony Cornelius, son of late "Soul Train" creator and host Don Cornelius, joined more than 30 legendary R&B acts aboard the "Soul Train Cruise" that sailed from San Diego, California to Puerta Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico from Saturday, October 5 to Saturday, October 12.
Following The Don Cornelius Tribute panel with The Whispers, Jeffrey Osborne and Jennifer Holliday, Cornelius spoke to Yahoo Music about his father's legacy.
Cornelius said Stevie Wonder encouraged him to create the Don Cornelius Foundation in memory of his father who committed suicide in 2012 and that the organization provides support to others battling mental illness.
Cornelius also explained how his father coined the popular "love, peace and soul" catch phrase used to close out the show (at 1:38 mark) and offered the back story on his dad's famous photo with political rights activist Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
