One of the currently hottest artists in country music's new-school crop is Jason Aldean--who's been making records since 2005, and has enjoyed the experience of seeing every single year shine brighter than the last, with 2010 to the present being nothing short of explosive. The singer rattled a few cages by dueting with rap star Ludacris ("Dirt Road Anthem"), won even more hearts by pairing up with American Idol Kelly Clarkson ("Don't You Wanna Stay"), and picked up a crazy amount of awards and award nominations along the way during that period, including  the prestigious Album of the Year title at the 2011 Country Music Association Awards.

Aldean's newest album, Night Train, will be released next month, and it's an apt name--things are continuing to speed along at breakneck pace for him. Who has time to sleep? Aldean will be zooming in to Las Vegas Friday to headline the 2012 iHeartRadio music festival, but he managed to take a few minutes out of his schedule to catch up with Yahoo! Music.

Jason Aldean (Photo: Sara Kauss)YAHOO!: When you take the stage at the iHeartRadio festival, you'll be playing to a lot of country and non-country fans alike. Are you planning to do anything special during your set, considering this? Any surprises in store for your hardcore fans?

ALDEAN: I'm just kinda gonna enjoy it. I heard a lot of cool stuff about [the festival] last year, and I think it's a cool opportunity for us to go out and turn people on to our music who maybe haven't been aware of it. It's a cool way for every artist to cross genres a little bit, and branch out to some new listeners. So that's the thing that I'm probably most excited about.

Imagine a hip-hop producer taking the reigns on recording an indie rock band--and no, it's not another one of Snoop Dogg's random projects. No need to mess yourself over the endless consequences, because Las Vegas band Imagine Dragons has already gone down that slippery slope and came out on top.  The four-piece group made up of front man Dan Reynolds, guitarist Wayne Sermon, bassist Ben McKee and drummer Daniel Platzman has mind-melded indie rock with just enough bits of other genres to create a unique, rallying-cry sound that has us (and apparently music-buyers as a whole) flying, like on the wings of fantasy beasts.

Their rousing brand of indie rock incorporates everything tinkering guitars to epic crescendos to full-on dubstep breaks, almost like a melange of elements that seems to be crowding the Grammy ballots, thankfully without scraggly beards or half-shaved heads. Linkin ParkLinkin Park has been getting huge media attention for the band's latest video, "Lost in the Echo," which is being described as a breakthrough in interactivity. Contrary to some previous interactive music videos, where you had to take the initiative of uploading imagery to become part of the clip, this "personalized film experience" does all the work for you, as long as you allow it to connect to your Facebook account and borrow imagery from what you have stockpiled there.

Of course, when Linkin Park plays the iHeartRadio Festival—a multi-superstar show in Las Vegas that will be streamed live over Yahoo!—home viewers won't have to worry about seeing themselves in the footage, unless it's in the reflective glare of the laptop or smartphone screen. For those of us who'd rather see prettier and/or more talented people than ourselves on-screen, this may be cause for a sigh of relief.
