Madonna Disses Gaga With “Express Yourself” / “Born This Way” Medley

The sonic similarities between Lady Gaga's 2011 hit "Born This Way" and Madonna's 1989 hit "Express Yourself" haven't gone unnoticed by well, anyone, really--including Madge herself, who earlier this year told Newsweek: "I thought [when I heard 'Born This Way'], this is a wonderful way to redo my song ['Express Yourself']. I mean, I recognized the chord changes. I thought it was...interesting." And now this feud is getting even more interesting, as amusing new MDNA tour rehearsal footage has surfaced of Madonna actually performing a mash-up of "Express Yourself" and "Born This Way."

The video was shot over the weekend in Israel, as Madonna prepares for her big world tour kickoff this week. At first, the cheeky "Express"/"Born" medley could be interpreted as a sign of Madonna's approval of Lady Gaga's soundalike song. (Gaga did once tell Jay Leno that she'd received an email from Madonna supposedly giving "Born This Way" the thumbs up.) But then, at the end of the raw amateur clip, Madonna makes her intentions extremely clear, as she incorporates another song into the medley: the Hard Candy track "She's Not Me."

Oh, snap!

No word on whether Madonna was just having a laugh (at Gaga's expense) here, or if this snarky medley will be part of her official act. We're kind of hoping she'll keep this diss in her live show...and that maybe on one of her tour dates, Gaga will bumrush the stage.

Madonna's MDNA tour begins in Tel Aviv this Thursday, May 31.
