When I caught up with VV before her first gig of the festival, we went in search of a realtively quiet place to conduct our interview, and since this woman is practically a living piece of art, we stumbled upon a beautiful cobalt backdrop that perfectly set the scene. It was fate. There up against the wall, we chatted about her trailblazing career in the arts, while of course random passers-by shouted out their declarations of undying love. For instance, at 2010's Austin, Texas music festival South By Southwest--where VV was playing several eagerly anticipated gigs in support of her acclaimed debut disc, Travelling Like The Light--she was rocking a towering top hat, forearm-fuls of baubles, multi-colored toenails, and Grace Jones-worthy shoulderpads, when everyone else was slouching around in Converse and skinny jeans. VV Brown is a true star.
