When Lorde wrote "Royals," Beyoncé and Jay Z must've been at the top of her mind. Opening the Grammy Awards show, the king and queen of music unmistakably showed what makes them the most powerful couple in music. Everybody else might as well have gone home!
Performing Beyoncé's "Drunk In Love," Bey kicked things off with a sultry chair dance, clad a sequin two-piece under a sexy black cage bodice by her go-to tour designer Chromat. But it was the wet look of her short blonde bob that really raised the temperature on that spinning stage.
Beyoncé may be a mother of one, and almost alone among her peers today, known for her restraint from questionable nightclub antics, but she can still wield a razor-sharp edge on stage. Gyrating with more power than 100 Mileys, the singer didn't even bother to censor her lyrics, leading to some long, awkward pauses in the sound as CBS likely scrambled to bleep out the curse words.
Jay Z emerged from the smoke to lay down his verses in a dapper tux, gingerly helping his wife down the stairs. Can we say SWOON? After a little TV-friendly bump and grind, the power couple exited the stage with their arms around each other. Plenty of single people watching surely gave a bitter little sigh watching the love fest happening on stage.
Jay and Bey giving a perfect performance isn't really much of a shock. But the most entertaining part might be Taylor Swift getting her awkward dance on in the audience during the song! Don't stop, girl!
