The price is right in Bob Dylan's new interactive video!
Nearly 50 years after it was first released, Bob Dylan's classic "Like a Rolling Stone" has been given new life with a groundbreaking video clip that mimics America's other favorite past-time: channel-surfing. Only in the interactive video created by digital media company Interlude, no matter which channel you tune to, the shows' hosts are lip-synching "Like a Rolling Stone," so it's all Bob, all the time.
Users have the ability to tune to 16 different faux TV channels in the clip, so the viewing experience relies on your trigger finger. Along with a number of pseudo TV shows hosted by actors, you can also catch some real celebs doing their best Bob, including Drew Carey on "The Price is Right," "WTF" podcaster/comedian Mark Maron, and "Pawn Stars" Rick Harrison and Austin "Chumlee" Russell. Along with sports, food, home-shopping, and fashion channels in the clip, there's also Music 1 Classics, which includes footage filmed by D.A. Pennebaker, who lensed Dylan's famed apostrophe-free doc Dont Look Back, to bring it all back home.
Of course, "Like a Rolling Stone" doesn't really need any visual accompaniment. Simply put, it's considered one of the best songs ever and topped Rolling Stone's list of the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time" in 2010. It also came in at number four on similar lists by Pitchfork and VH1, and was included on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's list of "500 Songs That Shaped Rock."
The video was released to promote Dylan's The Complete Album Collection Volume 1, a 47-CD boxed set containing 35 studio albums, six live album, and the two-CD Side Tracks, which compiles previously released non-album singles.
