A blizzard: that's a Dairy Queen treat, right? We here at the Yahoo Entertainment headquarters in Los Angeles generally have no semblance of what cold weather is besides any temperature under 60 degrees. But we're told that much of the country is battling some supremely gnarly winter weather, so we want to extend a toasty, tan hand to those spending their Friday snuggled indoors today.
Glass Candy's "Warm in the Winter" is one of my favorite feel-good anthems with their mix of moody dance and disco revival. You may recognize the style from the lauded soundtrack to the 2011 Ryan Gosling movie "Drive," as it was created by one half of Glass Candy and Gosling cohort, Johnny Jewel.
The other half of the duo consist of the inimitable lead woman Ida No, who is truly plucked from another era on another planet. The pair started off with a heavier sound they coined "death disco" (that I absolutely adored), which then evolved into a softer, vibey-er sound. From singing about homicidal night nurses to being "happy like a new year," Glass Candy is the perfect balance of blasé glam and spirit walk revelry.
This is our postcard to you, snowy America. Wish you were here.
